Well, it seems before when I had Dial Up Net I could join quick and host but when I got High speed, it seems I cannot Quick, Join or host!? Does any one know what's the problem?http://bbs.projectx.cyberfuturism.com/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif?
I am not behind a firewall or proxy or anything....
and also I think I have stated my ip adress correctly!
also My lag compensation is high http://bbs.projectx.cyberfuturism.com/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif?? so what seems to create this kind of problem..?
I have no idea.

Who is your internet provider and what is your connection?

well my internet provider is bell and my connection is DSL. I have a seperate modem...

Try typing in auto where it says IP in the "Network Options" settings. Also, you can try going to http://www.streetfighteronline.com/faq/internet/index.html for more help http://bbs.projectx.cyberfuturism.com/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin2.gif

Read this
If you are behind a router, a proxy or a firewall (ie: you do NOT have a direct connection to the Internet from your computer. This is common in an office environment or in any other network system) it may be the case that you can never host a game. This means, you can NEVER challenge someone, and have to be challenged by others.

r u sure ur not behind a firewall..maybe u should check ur comp control panel

Go to option>Network>Put i am behind fire wall and tried hosting. If it doesn't work tried joining it and quick games.

I had the same thing, you should be able to join games at least.. Well I could tell you how to go around your routers
firewall at the risk of easily contracting viruses...

Also, for those of you running Windows XP Service Pack 2 and still can't connect, disable the Windows Built-In-Firewall while you play as it can also cause issues with incoming connections.

P.S. New to the forum.
By no means new to SFO. Been here since September, 2003.
Look people...........I have BellSouth DSL also and look:
1.look in task bar and you will see a icon of 2 computer's with a big red X over it. Right click it and change Window's firewall's and turn it off and also note that it will put your pc in risk so when done playing sfo turn it on.
2.Go on sfo and go to network setting's tap in option and click I am behind a firewall prxy and old connection firewall or somthing like that.
3.Try joining and this may work.

First off you need to enter the comand that ables you to go
inside your router and change options yourself. This is done
in the address bar like a website. Its been awhile since I had
bellsouth so I'll look up that now.(BRB)

Nvm "WooooooooT"
Enter "launchmodem" into your address bar at the top of your
web page (This is only for Bellsouth DSL users with a Westell
router) from here on you can configure your options from there.
i.e. free ports for personal use.
Once your in you can look up more of what to do to your options so that you can host and quick game others, it worked for me when I had it and I helped some others.
(Or if you want I could look it up more for you)

I just went there and it worked but how to I make it where I can host and stuff, I see these option's on the left side of the screen that says: Home,Daignostic,Remote Acess,Update Modem,Reset Modem,Modem Self-Test, and expert mode. Wich one do I click on?

There are also much better software based firewalls than the one Windows XP Service Pack 2 tosses in. I suggest Norton Internet Security (AKA: Norton Personal Firewall), McAfee's Firewall, ZoneAlarm, or Zone Alarm Pro as all of them also have outbound protection unlike Windows Firewall.

That is the place you put the website's you go to at on the top of the screen....

this happend to me too man maybe because your not dirctly connected on the internet you need broadband connectgo to your network coneection and go to broaband right your email adress and password then it will connect
But if you don't got boraod band connection i have a way u can join but not host just go 2 options network then leave I'm behind a firewall den you can play but not host

what version of XP? If you have Serivce Pack 2 then I know exactly what your problem is.

it did not work eventually. I think I am behind a proxy then what Do I do to remove it ......... I Think it is something to do with my isp.

First off, try disabling the windows built-in firewall only while you play SFO.
Secondly, are you connected directly to your modem or is there something between you like a router?
