-- UPDATE --

The server maintenance took over 9 hours to complete. The entire physical infrastructure was gutted, equipment remounted and everything rewired. We now have to UPS's which will give at least 45 minutes of battery power for the servers which should be plenty of time for someone to get onsite and start the backup generators which should least 1.5 days on a tank of gas.

There was a lot more work as far as moving ip address's around and configuring monitoring. All under the hood stuff. We still plan on moving the forums to a faster server and faster connection. This won't be till far down the road.

We will be upgrading some hardware and installing a bunch of new equipment to help manage the servers better going forward. This will require downtime throughout the entire day. A quick list of new hardware:

New main web/dns server - will not be live yet
Network Power Distribution Unit - to remotely reboot downed machines
2 new Uninterruptible Power Supplies - 45-100 minutes of battery power
24 port 10/100/1000 managed network switch - faster/more manageable network
Network Patch Panel - cleaner/better network cable management
