[ TMC - Creeds Explained ]

So you know and love the “old” SFO ... you come to the release of an event called “The Missing Chronicles” (thinking it was called “The Addition of 6 New Characters” ) ... and now you don’t know what you’re looking at ??

There are players talking about “Creeds” ... some players have the word “Vampire” in their name ... something about +1 Armor and +2 Attack attributes on various characters ... umm ... what the eff ??

Fear not ... for the overwhelming abundance of new features will (hopefully) be explained in this thread http://bbs.projectx.cyberfuturism.com/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin2.gif

First off, if you are the “quick to anger” type, don’t forget that any of the new TMC features (such as “Creeds” ) are disabled in “Un-Vind” and “XvsSF” modes ... as well as in the “Tournament” chat server

...

That said, “Creeds” are SFO’s answer to “gigantic automated official tournament-like story driven events”. Imagine playing in a story mode ... earning “something” (such as the ability to have added +1 armor on all of your characters) then finding out that you will need to defeat members of the opposite “Creed” in order to progress in the story further ... and thus earn even more added +something features to all of your characters (not to mention a snazzy custom “Initiate” or “Apprentice” title that will be displayed for all to see)

The only way you can join a specific creed is via a TMC story mode ... your actions there will defined your allegiance to a specific Creed ... Currently, you can join one of 2 creeds via the “SFO Underworld” chronicle ... you can either be a “Vampire”, or a “Lycan” (and each of those Creeds and their meaning will probably make more sense if you play the actual “Underworld” story)

Once you join a Creed, you will automatically become a sworn enemy of another creed (for example: if your creed is “Vampire”, your “enemy creed” will of course be the “Lycans” ... and these are the types of things you find out about in the story mode).

Then, if you were to join a multiplayer match and fight against an enemy creed .. this will affect your “creed score” (think of it as an SFO score ... but ... it’s being kept separately .. ie: it doesn’t matter what your SFO rank is ... you could still have 0 Wins and 0 Losses with your Creed ... and you can increase this number by defeating members of the enemy creed ... ie: if you’re a “Vampire” and you defeat a “Lycan” in a multiplayer match, your creed score will change to 1 Win and 0 creed Losses)

Your “creed score” as well as your “creed title” will always be displayed to others when you join a public chat channel. However, since creeds are affecting the multiplayer aspects of SFO .. you will have to make sure that your Game Vindicator is active if you wish to gain a new creed ... or ... want to activate your existing creed.

Your creed score and progress is automatically saved ... in addition, you can save up to 5 creeds with each of your SFO accounts ... (ie: say you join the “Vampires” ... you level up to +5 “Master Vampire” status ... or something along those lines ... then you decide to join some other creed which doesn’t even relate to the “Vampires” ... it may appear as though your creed and score are “reset”, but in reality they are still saved on the server .. so if you wish to join the “Vampires” once more at a later date .. you can .. and your wins/losses/RPG-addons will still be waiting for you once more ... so you will not have to re-earn them each time you switch creeds http://bbs.projectx.cyberfuturism.com/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin2.gif )

(M-X)RecKoninG: nope ... those wins will only count towards your "SFO Rank/Ladder" ... but in order to get a "creed win" ... you need to defeat a member of the enemy creed ... (which might be a bit tough to do right now ... since TMC was just released ... but eventually, as more and more players choose a creed ... your "creed enemies" should be a lot easier to find http://bbs.projectx.cyberfuturism.com/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin2.gif )

same goes if you fight a member of the same creed ... ie: in a game of Vampire vs. Vampire ... neither of the player's creeds will be affected (since they are not "creed enemies" ) ...

Some messed up glitch..
I was a vampire initiate..
It even said that during my games..

I beat 2 lycans..(who it said it their name)
I go to TMC .. And click that mode..and it made me
FIGHT and pick my creed AGAIN. ... ?

SFO said "missing files, using web version" .. Maybe that is why.. So ya.. I deleted
C:\program files\SFO
Uninstalled
And re-installed
Hopefully its fine now.

If you want to check up on your creed ... simply join one of the chat channels ... your creed title and creed wins/losses should be shown to you

If however you are noticing that your creed info is not being "saved" (ie: if you log out of SFO ... and log back in ... your creed is "gone" ?? ) ... then there is definitely something going on ... (ie: a firewall could be blocking SFO from saving the data on server )

I can host perfectly... However.. The stuff STILL not saved ..I'm getting sick of beating it over and over and then logging off and not being one...
does this by any chance use any other ports than 1626 TCP/UDP ?
I put 1626-1630 TCP and UDP in my router..
Its also DMZ ..
What gives...
Maybe you could blame my wireless dropping those packets lol ?

as promised in the news there would be GLITCHES hehe. http://bbs.projectx.cyberfuturism.com/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I'm pretty sure this is one of them. I saw this happen with others like 2 times..they were a Lycan they log off and they are "nothing" a.k.a no creed.
The only thing I could think to try .. If some people actually manage to keep their creed is restart SFO+restart game vindicator so its not confused.. worth a shot

Perhaps the "saving" somehow uses other ports... I'm able to host and stuff....and people saw me as a vampire.. But come log off... Its gone.

Guess I'm elaborating and/or repeating the same thing over and over while brainstorming lol

If you'd like help fixing this glitch.. Maybe making a "make vampire temporary code or command" that people can enter in the TMC but not get credit for beating the level...
so I can quickly skip to the.. I'm a vampire ;then log off

Yeah there was a bug last night where it automatically took you to the "Kill 20 ppl" without choosing sides.. So now that has been fixed on the next SFO restart..

looks like there was an issue with some player caching their creed-related server commands ... and/or timing out while attempting to save creed info ... solution ?? a patch has been applied to SFO (which will take affect next time you restart the game) ... that will now force SFO to retry the saving of creeds over and over again ... until your creed stats/info is confirmed to have been saved on the server ... one thing to remember (as mentioned previously) is that your creed wins/losses will NOT be affected if you are fighting someone who is NOT your creed enemy ... (Vampire vs Vampire ... Lycan vs Lycan ... or Vampire/Lycan vs non-creed-player ... all will NOT affect your creed wins/losses) ... so make sure NOT to freak out when you have beaten 50 player n00bs and yet your Vampire creed status will still show a “0 wins” http://bbs.projectx.cyberfuturism.com/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin2.gif

The update is interesting but, was it necessary to make the vindicator required for creeds?

My comp doesn't agree with GV and last time I tried it, I had problems with it...

Now when I try to get some matches going no1 will fight me because I'm not in a creed...it's like some sorta racism.... o.0

From a quick survey in the chat server.. It appears at least 4 players are able to log off without losing their creed.. mmm

Okay in an attempt to save my creed properly I *(for the downloaded version.)
1) close game vindicator .. + RAN CCLAENER latest version
2) open game vindicator
3) restart SFO.. Let it upload
4) complete TMC as wolverine..
5) leave myself logged in for 5 minutes as of 5/2/2009 1:37:28 PM EST. Based on what tmyapp said.
6) login to server 1.. Its says I'm a Lycan Initiate with 0 wins 0 losses.
(now normally to replicate the glitch I've been logging off within about 1 minute..and then I'm no longer a Lycan =(

7) at 1:43pM EST I log off.+ I log on..go in server 1

Most people don't know to do that apparently.

It is a problem when the MAJORITY of the SFO Population ( players ) experience the same problem as you.
Im sorry to say, that is not the case.

You have 4 posts, and every one of them is a complaint about the GV.
For now, its safe to say, and it has been safe to say, that you should not fight in vindicated matches vs. Ken. Or any shoto with
a shoryureppa-like super combo.

Every new update, brings its own bugs and glitches, but crying, rather than explaining exactly whats going on, wont do us, or
you any good. If you dont know exactly whats going on.. and its still in the game... chances are.. neither do we...

So for now, just dont deal with the vindicator, and play your game without it, as you have been doing before.. and please
stop whining... I hate that..

Try alt + ctrl + del to open up your processes and increase the priority of sfo and GV.

My post count??? What does my post count have to do with anything?? I've played this game since 2002....and I never bothered with this boring forum anyway...This place is like a cemetery compared to BG or even UG now...

This thread is suppose to be about creed explanations right? That's all I'm here for...coming directly to the source.

How bout an explanation as to why I am forced to download a third party program like GV in order to play the game...

In case you haven't noticed it's next to impossible to get a match against anyone unless you're in one of the two creeds...

It's going on almost what? 8 years that you have been able to play this game, without being forced to download other third party programs...and with one update that has all changed.

The crux of the matter is creeds have taken over the game (it's a novel idea, the names are boring...but it's a decent concept) and believe me I have tried playing the game without vindicator as I usually do...but as I said before, it's all about creeds now.

All I'm trying to get is some sort of rationale behind why GV is compulsory for creeds and thus compulsory for the game, I don't need you nitpicking me about my post count...

Lag...I've gotten use to....glitches aren't great...but hey the game's free so I live with it...but making me use GV when it does absolutely nothing but introduce cheap moves and even more glitches....the but stops there....

I even suggested an idea such as designated creed server which might make things run more easily....maybe the creed hype will die down and things might get more normal but until then...

As it stands, it's either play creeds = using GV, or don't play at all? Is that what was intended? If so, just say that.

I appreciate you're response TMy, all I wanted to do was get an explanation from the source himself.

I would just like to briefly respond here, while adding another comment.

With all due respect to you and all the staff, I just don't see the benefits of GV, but hey you're behind the scenes, so I'll take you're word for it.

I just think it is unfortunate that GV is now compulsory, truth be told they're still alot of bugs/glitches out there that GV can do nothing to stop and to me...thats the real "cheating". I sincerely wish you and the staff the best in ironing things out.

My one disappointment though is that it's either use GV or don't let the door hit me on my way out...

If I can offer some feedback on the creeds....

-I can agree with J with regards to the "switch" shown in creeds as the game starts and also when it does "win glitch" an unnecessary loss is added to the creed score.

-Also could an explanation be given as to how creed wins are affected in tag? Like with a vampire and lycan being on the same team for example?

-Also, I'm not sure how far ahead you've got it planned, but if you're going to go down this route of "RPG-like features", then couldn't the ranks be a bit more distinct? Instead of having like initiates and apprentices for both creeds how bout something like:
Vampire Kit
Lycan Pup

Vampire YoungBlood
Lycan NewWolf

and higher up
Vampire King
Lycan Emperor

just to keep things interesting.
