Ego -
1. The self, especially as distinct from the world and other selves.
2. In psychoanalysis, the division of the psyche that is conscious, most immediately controls thought and behavior, and is most in touch with external reality.
3. 1. An exaggerated sense of self-importance; conceit.
2. Appropriate pride in oneself; self-esteem.
I'd agree more with the latter..

That isn't necessarily true.
Individualism, being focused on one person - the individual, has much to do with ego.
One can easily find themselves practicing individualism, doing things based on their own beliefs without any consideration for what others may think, simply because he/she believes that they are correct. Thinking that highly of one's self is, indeed, giving a hint to their ego. It shows that they are arrogant, and thus, their ego is inflated.
On the flip side, one who never does what he/she believes in and simply "follows the crowd" or "jumps on the band wagon" is showing off his/her ego as being deflated. They obviously don't think too highly of themselves, and they probably aren't too sure of themselves either, and therefore, they don't act upon their own, individual beliefs.
Wabamo. Individualism + ego = combined ^
But, to be fair, individualism and one's ego do not have to be combined into the same situation. c3

How a person thinks of him self (in a good concieted way), directly or indirectly. For example, you have people who straight out say all these good things about them selves, then you have self-conscience egotistical people who say abd things about them selves inorder for people to say good things about them...which is called.... "ego Boosters"

Individualism?
Everyone should practice it because sometimes you have to put yourself first, rather than putting friends.
If you don't know yourself well, then that could lead to complications.

I can see where he makes the connection between ego and individualism. In order to have an ego, you must have pride.
Pride, in decent doses, disallows a person to go after something or do something that other people want or do, OR at least receive help from others or do something they find "embarressing" in front of friends/companions. They are forced to go after their own way, their own path, or be on their own as a whole. Thus, individualism is born.
But the thing to remember, is that Pride is for the weak.

Well I can see that because ego would be putting yourself ahead of another person...and they obviously wanted everybody to be equal...
..but that doesn't necessaryily mean they are always related..you can have lots of individuality without having an oversized ego..
