Unlocking characters without beating players?

After trying at storymode several times without defeating it (but I have won few matches in story mode because of awesome help from others ;) ), I have unlocked ChunLi for some reason. I have fought another player few times but I've lost; so I don't see how I have unlocked her. Then, when I tried to relog in later, the game could not authenticate my login. I've retried later and I finally got in. When I did, my ChunLi was gone. :s What just happened?

that seem like some strang stuff, but its probly nothing to worry about too much, just keep fighting.

woah. your signature!. If a girl can really do that, she'd be attractive, lol. Alright I'll keep playing and hopefully I'll accidentally unlock chunli again. I do well with her the most.

lol...judging by her form...and what seems to be a wig..that's a dude in drag...and rather than try and get her accidently just get her the "right" way so to speak so she doesn't suddenly disappear again...

This has happenned to me as well. I had all characters Unlocked. Now i have none. No matter how much i log out and login -it makes no difference.

Anyone help? Sorry to hi-jack thread, but our problems seem the same and no point making another thread.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

you might have been experineceing

well its kind of hard to not to feel bad.
It gets annoying when you constantly have to keep unlocking characters you spent ages getting. Or all the Rage-factor that i got. I had all characters-then i had just 3.

btw- I though Ken was supposed to come automatically, so why is it now Cyclops?

Yea, this happened to me before. I had people like Chun-Li, Spiderman, and Wolverine. And when I checked back they were gone. I have one more win to get to Wolverine (Let me check..19 wins 109 losses http://bbs.projectx.cyberfuturism.com/non-cgi/emoticons/sleepy.gif Dumb lag messed me up too much times.) , so I guess that's why it messed up.

Yeah i got some tips to do well with ken in story mode but I dont have ken I have cyclops. Hmm...I'm happy with Cyclops anyway cuz of his quick long-distance and decent fighting skills. ;)

And i doubted that that person was a female to myself pulling out a wrestling move. haha. I'm just saying if a female can do that to a guy, she'd be attractive.

bottom line: there IS no way that u can unlock ur characters and Keep them with ur account until the next game update unless ur're a vip or u have earned them by winning fights with the other online gamers, not with the story mode opponents.

I've found it to be due to rank lag like when i first returned to fow i had a high ass rank then i logged out and logged back in and i was like rank 54 and i had characters i didnt even unlock yet so yeah thats what happened to me but due to me being vip i always have all characters when my names lower case.

hey yeh im a new member to this forum ( i'll cut the crap now )

well i think i no da answer

i no that when a new account is made
like the first or second time ( i dont no exactly ) u log in
u unlock all the characters for a while
once u log out or close the window ( im not sure which ) then try 2 log back in
the characters r lost unless u win them back

also,
theres another reason to why a particular character is unlocked, then it isn't
basicly, if youhavent passed 40 wins ( the highest wins needed to unlock all characters )
then u mite unlock the player, then not
what happens is .... for example :
say u log in on 39 wins, almost unlocking akuma ( 40 wins )
and then u win that 1 extra win u want to unlock akuma
after that, because u hav 40 wins now,
u will be able to use akuma, seeing as he is unlocked
however, when u log out
and try to log back in quickly
akuma will probably be gone
because, wins take time to go on the actual " high scores " board.
each time u log in
it reffers back to yur score on the "high scores"
and a win usualy takes over 10 mins to come up on the high scores

which explains y yur character might of been unlocked
and then it was locked again
only to return the next day or woteva
( and to think i only registered to this forum 10 mins ago )

mmm hmm it takes a while for the scores to update therefore you'll have to wait until that "last win" updates before using the selected character but yes some times a glitch may happen but its just a glitch not a mistake.
