Can't get on sfo?

Today i tried getting on SFO. i tried using the web version but when the screen popped up there is an "X" on the top left of the screen and the game does not load. Funny thing is is that i was playing it fine yesterday. Would someone be able to explain what is wrong? ( i use a library comp. and they just did upgrades to their comps Monday.)

It might be that this "school" computer doesn't have the latest, if not, doesn't have Macromedia Shackwave on it.

What you can do is go to the Download page on the SFO home page, and get Shockwave 8.5

It should be fine after that.

even if he does have shockwave 8.5.... He's on the library computers.... so they could have proxy/firewall settings.... http://bbs.projectx.cyberfuturism.com/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin2.gif

well going on the assumption that the site isn't banned then i don't think they've set up any real defences to stop you from playing at school.

Like dark said you'll need the shockwave 8.5 thing from the downloads section of this site,strangly enough i had this problem the other day and i downloed a different shockwave only for it not to work and when i used the one onthe sfo game it worked.

2nd if you do have a firewall etc it shouldn't stop you logging on unless the following has happened.

IF they've got a firewall program which requires you to allow and disallow certain programs than it maybe that because you need to connect up to a server etc that your firewall is preventing it.

If this is the case and you can go on the firewall and configure it then set it to allow the various programs that you need to play it,such as shockwave etc.

Also it may even be the case that the firewall is preventing you from installing the shockwave files properlyif this is the case it's because your librarian or whatever i set it so that you are un able to install things onto the pc.

If your not to confident then do this,turn the firewall off and if your on a pc with windows xp make sure that firewall is turned off,if the pc can't see windows firewall then your screwed because it means your pc's been set up to allow guests and admins and only admins can change these settings.

The retry the installation by the way you could always try using web version/download version,whichever you havn't tryed yet.

Bare in mind though with a downloaded version you'll need to set the firewalls to allow sfo program otherwise it won't work.

i think i know what the real problem is. the librarians blocked anything to do with chat rooms. being that SFO u can go in Chat rooms to challenge ppl. Which makes no sense cause they should have done that in the beginning. ( or when they upgraded the comp. on Monday).
