CenturionMario: You have the questions?

SByrdNC3: Let me open up notepad
SByrdNC3: *ahem* I SBYRD5 current coleader representative of the clan missfits would like to interview you TOC series overall champion...and clan destroyer TarkanX.

CenturionMario: GO ahead.

SByrdNC3: Question one.
SByrdNC3: During Your Time Period in XMVSSF Did you ever truely have a student or was that all myth?

CenturionMario: Yeah, I had many students, people in the cat room would find me and try to challenge me (because they wanted to see if I was really good or just wanted my points).
CenturionMario: They all lost when they first fought me, and then I would tell them if they would like to get better.[color]

SByrdNC3: Alright

CenturionMario: They would accept my training and I tried to train them on the basic fundamentals (normals, specials, supers and when to use them at the right moment).
CenturionMario: Also strategies that people didn't use a lot, using quickness, etc...

SByrdNC3: Is that your final answer =p
SByrdNC3: Well let us continue.
SByrdNC3: Question 2

CenturionMario: Umm... I tried to teach them some moral values of the game (don't try to lag on purpose, for one), yeah, that's about it.

SByrdNC3: 2)What would be your explanition of lag.

CenturionMario: You can ask any technical person about that.

SByrdNC3: lol I was just curious to hear your view of it...everyone seems to say this and that on how to manipulate it in sfo.
SByrdNC3: But no need to go indepth on it.
SByrdNC3: Question 3. Who did you respect the most.

CenturionMario: Umm..., A lot of people.

SByrdNC3: Does any names come to mind

CenturionMario: I respect TMyApp and Leftyfb for making and hosting this game, for putting up with all the problems they receive.
CenturionMario: For fighters, I respect Nferno, Fear tetsuo, Lordcyris, a lot others, but I can't remember their names, it's been a while since I played the game.
CenturionMario: Obviously as you see here, those fighters played way back in 2001, early 2002, so I'm a bit biased.

SByrdNC3: Interesting.
SByrdNC3: But for some reason I'm not surprised
SByrdNC3: Question 4. Which user often tried to match wits with you?

CenturionMario: Do you mean in a fight?

SByrdNC3: A fight or just common discussion

CenturionMario: Nferno, Fear, Token and Tantum in a fight, for discussions, I guess Nantuko Joe, mainly because of that Dragonball Z vs. Street Fighter topic we head.
CenturionMario: A lot of others too, just can't remember them.

SByrdNC3: Nice.
SByrdNC3: Question 5. How many tournaments did you win,and how many clans did you dismantle alone.

CenturionMario: Contrary to popular belief, my tournament winnings weren't very high.
CenturionMario: I only won 1, and defended one title.
CenturionMario: But....
CenturionMario: For the first tournament, the Necro2k1 tournament, I got to the finals, losing to Lordcyris (who won the infamous "Blue Ryu".
CenturionMario: The tournament had I believe 8 people, only 3 showed (as you can tell, this is really going into the past).
CenturionMario: The second tournament, Ewalks tournament, there was a division set up of 8 people each (4 divisions).

SByrdNC3: Go on. *listens with interest*

CenturionMario: I was in the hardest division, going through Elite fighters Like Nferno, a couple others (sadly, Ewalks went MIA and the tournament got canceled).
CenturionMario: Oops, I meant 5 people showed for Necro's tournament, my bad.
CenturionMario: I was a little frustrated, this was my chance to shine (with the Ewalk tournament) and show the XvSf online world that I was the best.
CenturionMario: I was always called as an Elite fighter, but it was a couple players, then my name would be brought up.
CenturionMario: So someone named Zing79 comes in and fro out of no where, starts to dominate the competition, I was getting angrier that even though I was getting better, fighters would quickly slip right past me.

SByrdNC3: Amazing

CenturionMario: I kept chellenging Zing, but most of the time, I kept losing, he then told me before his announcement that he was going to host a tournament, called Tournament of champions.
CenturionMario: This inspired me to get even better than ever... I fought almost 10 hours a day, everyday against anyone.
CenturionMario: I never got first ever, at anything involving lots of people, and I wanted to so bad.
CenturionMario: When TOC started, I had a bye in the first round, in the second round, and 3rd round, I beat my opponents 3-0.
CenturionMario: In the fourth round, surprisingly, I beat JSL (who was an excellent fighter and even Zing admits gives him lots of trouble) 3-0, I king of blame the time zone difference, as he lived in Britain and I was in Minnesota, when we fought, it was probably 2AM over there.
CenturionMario: In the 5th round, it was me against one of my most toughest opponents I ever faced, Token.
CenturionMario: I would fight the person I showed this website to.
CenturionMario: In our first 3 matches, it was like something out of an anime, a stalemate and a photo finish for each round.
CenturionMario: He was leading 2-1, so I got angry and chugged down some Ramen noodles and read his strategies, it did a little more to better me, as I won the 4th game, so it was tied at 2.

SByrdNC3: Overwhelming (O.o)
SByrdNC3: Anything else sir

CenturionMario: In the 5th game (the 1st match), and one of my most embarrasing moments in my career at XvSF online, I purposely quit the match when he was about to win the 2nd round (On his end, it said the match desynced).
CenturionMario: WHen I lied about what happened (that I desynced), we agreed upon a rematch.
CenturionMario: I think Token's momemntum took a hit, due to the game quiting, I beat him in 2 rounds, I won the series 3-2.

SByrdNC3: Dang
SByrdNC3: lol

CenturionMario: I didn't feel right, though, I won, but it wasn't a real win.
CenturionMario: Well, I advanced to the semifinals, and I was supposed to respond to an E-mail to Tantum about when we were going to fight (this was mandatory).
CenturionMario: Because I didn't respond, I was automatically disqualified from the tournament.
CenturionMario: I was sad, my chances of being number, dropping like a bombshell, so I told Zing a lie, saying that I had to work (even though I didn't work), so I couldn't e-mail Tantum in time.
CenturionMario: Tantum got angry, but Zing said I didn't have to fight Tantum in the semis, that Tantum would advanced to the finals automatically, but I would have to take on Zing in the semis.
CenturionMario: Since I had the best record before TOC started, the rank of who fighting who was determined by records (which is why I got a bye, because I had the best record).
CenturionMario: I got to host first, and it was like that, who ever hosted, won.
CenturionMario: I beat him, he bat me, I beat him, he beat me and in the final match, it went to 3 rounds.
CenturionMario: It was heart pumping, I was shaking after I beat him in the third and deciding round.
CenturionMario: So I was off to the finals, facing against an even more pissed of Tantum.
CenturionMario: He though it should been Zing Vs. Him and not Me Vs. Him, I think it took about 2 weeks for us to schedule a time and fight.

SByrdNC3: Hold on sir.

CenturionMario: We did fight and although it wasn't as heated as me Vs. Token/Zing, it was still a good match, I won the series 3-1.

SByrdNC3: This is alot to process

CenturionMario: I thought about making it short (answering your question with a simple answer), but I wanted to convey who I was).

SByrdNC3: Resume
SByrdNC3: Please just keep in mind I'm recording this conversation to a txt. Client.

SByrdNC3: It was getting good

CenturionMario: Okay, after I won, Tantum complained how I lagged a lot (I always try not to lag, the only window I ever have open when fighting is the game itself).
CenturionMario: Maybe it was because I was using a computer that was supposed to be for 1997/1998 and not a computer that wasn't up to the times (2001).
CenturionMario: TMyApp said he would award me with a Red Ryu, a Red Sentinel and a tournament winner banner ( for whenever I'm fighting).
CenturionMario: I didn't get lazier after I got my prize (which took a while to be made), I kept training harder and harder.

SByrdNC3: lol that red ryu became famous

CenturionMario: The TOC2 championship was underway, and I was waiting to defend my title.

SByrdNC3: lol you truely are a throwback jersey
SByrdNC3: continue

CenturionMario: The tournament didn't turn out as well as planned (according to Zing), but I tink Imagination won the tournament, he would get the right to face me for the title.
CenturionMario: I think Nferno would've won that tournament, but he woke up late.

SByrdNC3: Now that's organization

CenturionMario: It took a while for me and imagination to fight, but when we met up (after lots of trash talking), I swept him.

SByrdNC3: Waking up late....would've cost you back in the day in sfo.
SByrdNC3: I mean XMVSFO

CenturionMario: he got angry after that, I don't remember what he said, but I don't think it was good.
CenturionMario: Well..
CenturionMario: For TOC2, it was a one day thing.
CenturionMario: It didn't take a month or 2 to finish like TOC1.
CenturionMario: That plan didn't work well, keeping track of children running around the chat rooms....
CenturionMario: Not a good idea.
CenturionMario: Okay, I was training and then someone wanted to challenge.
CenturionMario: I fought him before in September 2001 ( I don't remember his previous name, but it had some Dragon Ball Z related name).
CenturionMario: SSJ MajinVegeta I think.
CenturionMario: Anyways, at this point, it was December 2001, his name was Fear tetsuo.
CenturionMario: He had a goal, he wanted to be like me.
CenturionMario: I finally gained my popularity, people looked at me as number one, he wanted to be like that, a well respected fighter who is at the top of the hill.
CenturionMario: He kept challenging me and losing badly, but each passing time, it would get closer and closer, I had to become more serious now instead of being relaxed when first fighting gainst him.
CenturionMario: Then something happened, my ISP went out for a week, and during that time, I was losing some skill, while he was multiplying his.
CenturionMario: If you don't fight for even a period of time, you're going to lose some skill, no matter what.
CenturionMario: Maybe I was losing skill, because of I didn't play for a week.
CenturionMario: Maybe it was the beginning of the end, starting to become "over the hill".
CenturionMario: Well, when we fought, he started beating me in very close matches.
CenturionMario: He became so good, I had a hard time detecting where he was going to be, I had to rely on my Red Sentinel even more than ever.
CenturionMario: I didn't use Red Sentinel as much, unless I wanted quick finishes or was facing an elite fighter, but with Fear Tetsuo, I needed it.
CenturionMario: It was like I would jump, he hits me, and I can't detect where he is (I'm not saying he lags).

SByrdNC3: lol dbzish

CenturionMario: And it didn't help that to stop jumping around the screen the whole match (which is what I did a lot, especially in "bail me out" situations), TMyApp implented the "jump lock" feature.

SByrdNC3: Yes limiting your advantage...

CenturionMario: Now one of my key strategies were gone, I was getting beaten more than ever (although I was still a strong opponent) since a month after the game released).
CenturionMario: I kept going to practice and trying to find strategies around the jump lock, how I could be able to use quickness and not have to jump a lot.

SByrdNC3: did you find a strat

CenturionMario: I used the dash feature a lot now to replace jumping, and I tried to stay in the high air as much as I could to raise meter.
CenturionMario: Yeah.
CenturionMario: Once I raise meter, *try to find a spot where they are and use it, if I can't find them, I use my helper to locate where they are and fire away (it works a lot).
CenturionMario: TOC3 started, and there was a new feature not seen in the other two TOC's.

SByrdNC3: Yes the pop fly tech...

CenturionMario: There would be preliminaries, I'm not sure but you had to win a certain amount of games to be able to make it to the tournament.
CenturionMario: I struggled more than ever in the tournament, while Fear tetsuo and Nferno coasted, but Fear more so.
CenturionMario: I managed to make it to the tournament.
CenturionMario: I faced off against I think KidKrazy**** in the first (or second round), and this is where I started to pick up my spark that I used to have before my lackluster performances (though it wasn't as good as what I was during my dominance).
CenturionMario: I forgot to say, that before the tournament, I had my Red Ryu and Sentinel taken away, to make it fair for everyone.

SByrdNC3: I see noble..

CenturionMario: I mean before the whole TOC3 started, including preliminaries.
CenturionMario: I beat him, 3-0 I think (Again, I don't remember, but I;m sure he'll vividly tell you what happened).

SByrdNC3: Indeed he will.

CenturionMario: My semi finals opponent was against Slk_Rik.
CenturionMario: He got one win on me, but I still beat him 3-1, matches were contested, but most were in my favor.
CenturionMario: Before the tournament started, me and Nferno made a promise that we would meet up in the finals )it was our goal in TOC2, but it never happened).
CenturionMario: He was in the semi finals against Fear Tetsuo, he told me, that he was down 2-0, so he switched computers and tied the series 2-2.
CenturionMario: The 5 fight was hotly contested, btu Fear Tetsuo won and advanced to the finals to face off against me.
CenturionMario: Now, when TOC3 started, many complained how Fear tetsuo lagged a lot, but I never wanted to admit that, and I still don't... he said that the game is the only program that he leaves on, and I believe him.
CenturionMario: I was a little mad that me and Nferno didn't meet up in the finals as planned, so I said for this finals, this is for Nferno.

SByrdNC3: I see

CenturionMario: It was 2-1 for the first 3 matches, and he was just... dominant.
CenturionMario: He had me on the ropes (not talking about Ali on the ropes, but manhandling wise).
CenturionMario: I tried to find a strategy against him, but it was hard, he seemed invincible.
CenturionMario: I put so much strength in the 4th match, I gave everything I could (I was doing the first 3 matches, but I was fighting like everything was at stake).
CenturionMario: We split the first 2 rounds, I was sweating, in round 3, he came out big, but I came back.
CenturionMario: Both of us didn't have a lot of life left, I had used my meter, because I thought I found him, but he "teleported", came from behind and blasted me with his own super.... I lost.
CenturionMario: I was drained and angry, that was it.... Fear won, but I didnt want to accept it.
CenturionMario: When you are successful at something and you lose it, it's hard to believe it, that's how I felt.
CenturionMario: There was complaining, left and right about Fear Tetsuo lagging.
CenturionMario: Zing, the tournament host even publicly admitted that he lagged a lot.
CenturionMario: Fear was supposed to get his prize, but Zing says he did something that made him didn't, there was constant arguing back and forward... I think it had to deal with passwords, I can't remember.
CenturionMario: Well, TOC3 was basically things to come for me, I was never the same.
CenturionMario: I think I lost some will to fight, and that gradually got deeper and deeper.
CenturionMario: Within 3 months (May 2002), My Ryu was average, which meant I was average, and then 4 player mode came...
CenturionMario: I did host some weekly tournaments, but they were never successful, so I past them on to KKS.
CenturionMario: I was done with competitive fighting by the Summer of 2002, I was mainly on the forums.
CenturionMario: Any tournament that I entered, it was probably one and out.
CenturionMario: That's my history of competing in tournaments.

SByrdNC3: Tell me alittle bit about the clans you took down

CenturionMario: Its hard to remember some of the clans I took down, althought I remember a couple (the Inclusive and power ranger clans come to mind).
CenturionMario: They would post about their clan in the forum, and I would say that there is no needs for clans.
CenturionMario: I challenged them to prove a point.
CenturionMario: I wanted to beat them so many times, that they would never be apart of a clan again, I wanted to humiliate their clan.
CenturionMario: Also, embarrasingly, on the side (although this didn't happen much), I would fight them, just so I could get my rank up.
CenturionMario: I just wanted to prove that you don't need others to back you up in a fight, you can fight for yourself (this doesn't apply in the real world).

SByrdNC3: Can you recall any of those clans

CenturionMario: If the forums were open right now (the main one), then I could do a search, but like I said before, it's been a while.
CenturionMario: They are definitely there, though.

SByrdNC3: My my the time has flown by

SByrdNC3: What was your first video game,and contrast it to SFO.

blankao9: bah
blankao9: My first video game ?
blankao9: well, the first I ever got was on some old polo type console system that wasn't even brand name
blankao9: the name of the catridge along with it was Contra
blankao9: back then it was quite enjoyable... and trying to shoot as many bad guys as possible was quite fun. The concept of FPS and Strategy type games.. or Multi player games like Battlefield 2 was just "in the works" so I think I enjoyed what I had then... whether or not it's level is no where compared to that of SFO

SByrdNC3: I expected that ending answer.
SByrdNC3: Question 2. Did you ever look up to another individual in the community.
SByrdNC3: The community being SFO

SByrdNC3: A fighter
SByrdNC3: Maybe a community staff member
SByrdNC3: ect.

blankao9: Not necessarily
blankao9: Except marve|ling at the fact that someone, or a group (didn't know it was just TMyApp creating the game) of people could set up a community as large and as in depth as this ... I was just ur average ####ie :-D
blankao9: who just wanted to play the game and enjoy beating ppl
blankao9: if yousay respect
blankao9: then that's a different thing
blankao9: After 6 months of playing
blankao9: when I finally discovered the forum
blankao9: I respected those in power.. and the VIPs... to an extent

SByrdNC3: Many consider you to be a top notch fighter.How do you view yourself as an individual.

blankao9: Do you mean as a fighter in SFO
blankao9: or as a member of the community

SByrdNC3: As a fighter in sfo

blankao9: It's hard for me to describe myself
blankao9: but one thing's for sure..
blankao9: I go into EVERY fight
blankao9: not looking to loose
blankao9: even if I'm fighting against someone that I KNOW would defeat me
blankao9: for various reasons.. like having a better system
blankao9: like comparing Nferno666's 2gb athlon to my 1gb P4 3.0ghz
blankao9: or digital fighters reputation to my 2003 join date
blankao9: or even some of the new guys who seem to utilize bugs more than ur average player :-D
blankao9: I try to go into every game looking to come out with my "sfo-4-lyfe; we take no prisoners, and that means you... baka!!" outro message :-D

blankao9: argh.. that's a pretty tough question.

SByrdNC3: Take your time

blankao9: umm... I really don't know if I had a "rival"
blankao9: in the early days...
blankao9: Of course they were fighters who would hand down my arse on a platter of 1's 0's and hexadecimal numbers.. every single time
blankao9: but I never really had a personal rapour with them that would label them as "my rivals"
blankao9: however, lately.. it seems the games I fight with Nferno666 seems to be the most intense
blankao9: and brings the most outta me in terms of strategy and prediction..... and also lag consideration

SByrdNC3: I see most interesting *takes notes*
SByrdNC3: Another question What was the time frame you put into tournament assistance and creation.

blankao9: Depends
blankao9: I've only been very passionate about one tournament
blankao9: as far as creation and assistance go
blankao9: I could easily say I put nothing less than 6 - 8 hours trying to get "things to work" out
blankao9: that's me including Nferno666
blankao9: so basically
blankao9: it's sleepless nights.. from say 1 am - 6 am
blankao9: making websites... organizing fighter list.. pairing fighters, answering emails
blankao9: and things like that
blankao9: oh of course we sleep, then wake up.. and then start again :-D

SByrdNC3: How did the MS partnership of you and user saijin_ryu ever formulate.
SByrdNC3: And I see

blankao9: aight
blankao9: Maximumspider.com ... i never really had plans
blankao9: of making a website
blankao9: I already had the job of updating X-Force 2010 and Senshukentaikai to a degree
blankao9: so at a point in time, my "good works" caught TMyApp's eyes and I was granted some space on the SFO server.

SByrdNC3: So TMyApp hosts MS.com?

blankao9: damn sorry for the break
blankao9: gimme 2 minute to gather my thoughts

blankao9: as you'd remember that's when the whole "screenshot" contest started

blankao9: I decided to buy a "domain name"
blankao9: and since spiderman is my favourite character
blankao9: I decided to go with maximumspider.com
blankao9: aaaand then I worked on a site
blankao9: and after a while I had finished
blankao9: so I chose someone random to have a "beta feel" of the site
blankao9: and luckily for me it was Saijin_Ryu
blankao9: He told me he could make it better
blankao9: and then... that's how everything started

SByrdNC3: How did you become an NWO member

blankao9: hmm
blankao9: that's a tough question.. because I really don't know how I became one myself
blankao9: I used to communicate with TMyApp long long ago before I even got "an upgrade"
blankao9: but just in a wierd manner
blankao9: on one night
blankao9: he sent a message and said
blankao9: well.. would u like to help out yadda yadda ya.. and all the formal mumbo jumbo and bureaucracy and there you have it

SByrdNC3: Who is your favorite marve| character
SByrdNC3: Then explain why
SByrdNC3: Then tell me your favorite capcom character

blankao9: Spiderman

SByrdNC3: Kep in mind this is an interview

blankao9: Cause he's an ordinary guy with ordinary problems.. he's not "that super" .. but he does put himself in danger to help others
blankao9: and then there's SFO
blankao9: he was by far the most unique character for me to use in SFO
blankao9: WOlverine and Ryu and Chun li
blankao9: had this whole stagnancy to them
blankao9: where by you could do their fireballs or BBX as much as u want
blankao9: and everything was linear
blankao9: but spiderman added an extra dimension
blankao9: even though ppl think he's "cheap"... using him can be fun
blankao9: and defeating him can be easy... you just have to know how

SByrdNC3: Now for your capcom character

blankao9: hard question...
blankao9: I would have to sayy Ken
blankao9: although I like using Ryu in SFO.. cause he's the most balanced
blankao9: I really like Ken
blankao9: why ?? I love his american/japanese background
blankao9: and the fact that he chose his own path and style as a fighter
blankao9: instead of going with the "hadouken".. or passive or whatever you'd have it style
blankao9: and besides.. he's got taste :-D
blankao9: so yeah.. Ken's a favourite

Viper2O40: um, I played a lot, and wanted to help out as much as possible, from the very start
Viper2O40: Im not really sure why TmyApp chose me, in full, but i can explain what I did prior to becoming an admin

Viper2O40: I joined the forum way back in November (or was it december?) of 2001
Viper2O40: I remember learning very quickly that posting every thought that pops into your head was not a good way to gain respect, so I have always kept my posts to a minimum unless necessary.
Viper2O40: Around summer, 2002, i think, i began looking for proactive ways that i could help the community
Viper2O40: like many people these days, back then i was not too computer literate, and the best i could do was watch the forums and game (ie, I was a vigilante wannabe), and make suggestions for the game
Viper2O40: I would suggest, for example, possible alternative formulae for the scoring system that i thought might be more fair
Viper2O40: generally, nothing much became of the suggestions, but I WAS trying
Viper2O40: in 2003, i think it was, I decided to start really helping. I had realized just how time and money consuming hosting and maintaining SFO really was for TMyApp, and figured that a little donation couldnt hurt
Viper2O40: Unfortunately, NoSoul4Evr beat me to the punch, as did VIRUS and maybe one or two others (they will never be forgiven http://bbs.projectx.cyberfuturism.com/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin2.gif )

Viper2O40: anywho, I continued to donate over the following months (from november 2002 to late spring 2003)

Viper2O40: many members are young, and dont have credit cards, but they do have cash. So I began allowing people to mail me cash, and I then made the donation in their name. I DO NOT recommend anyone else do this, for MANY reasons.

Viper2O40: a few months later, after good behavior, I was promoted to a full administrator in the forum.

Plasma256: *Well, I guess I don't really think of it as a legacy too much. I mean, I was around for what? About ayear of news updates... just doesn't seem like much in the long run of things.
Plasma256: *SFO/xvssf has been up for 4 years now, that's only 1/4 of the time

SByrdNC3: *But many consider your contribute to be a noble one.

Plasma256: *I wouldn't know of who those "many" are, but I appreciate it. I do remember talking with people like KKS and dark_masta back when I was updating senshuk on a regular basis, so I know at least a few people read it

SByrdNC3: *What drived you to make articles for senshuk to begin with.

Plasma256: *Oh, I think I put this in that "farewell" address when I quit updating senshuk some 2 years ago. After I grewbored with trying to compete in the game, I began looking for ways to try and "repay" TMyApp for all the thousands of hours of free entertainment.
Plasma256: *So the "spoof" history was more for him than anyone else since I thought he'd get a kick out of it..
Plasma256: *and then the "history" of xvssf was the one that I always thought should have been around since when I first came to the xvssf scene I wanted some way of knowing what had been going on before me without having to go through countless old messages in the forum

I think the biggest problem is because there's so many people who just like to take things and complain about how other people don't do more for them.. but that's another topic.

Plasma256: *well, I guess two of the guys I've always respected a lot were zing and quass since they basically gave a 2nd community to the game
Plasma256: *quass less so in later days since he killed senshuk without telling anyone *sigh*.. would've wanted to save that stuff
Plasma256: *there were some guys that I never see mentioned though, like koopsta, silver_fly, pamalio..
Plasma256: *some of the older fighters that were pretty good for their time but didn't hang around a lot
Plasma256: *and then I guess the people who were my first true "friends" in this community, some of the original dark knights members
Plasma256: *mastaq, virus and tupac2westsider were the ones I talked to the most
Plasma256: *everyone mentions tmyapp unless they've got something against the man
Plasma256: *leftyfb for actually hosting the forum, KKS for bothering to take over my job at senshuk AND running the WT's for over a year.. I mean, what a job that has to be

Plasma256: *I guess out of all the people I respected, the only one I really felt bad for was TarkanX
Plasma256: *the guy just couldn't let go of xvssf for such a long time
Plasma256: *even after he lost his "will" to play, he'd keep coming back and trying to leave
Plasma256: *I remember him even asking me online what people would think if he came back already (this was after his first farewell a year after the game had been out)
Plasma256: *I don't see him posting anymore so I think he finally was able to move on

SByrdNC3: *I guess someone like him had done so much and found it hard to just say good ends

Plasma256: *lol. I had at least one I remember.. and that was tupac2westsider
Plasma256: *back when the dark knights was still young and the clan wars was getting old..
Plasma256: *the leader ShinAkuma named him our "weaponX" since he was the best guy in the clan
Plasma256: *so for a while I began trying to find a way to beat him... and take that title for myself
Plasma256: *eventually, shinakuma hosted this inter-clan war which was horribly hosted...
Plasma256: *basically he'd have everyone "sign up" and then the first guy to sign up would go around fighting the next guy
Plasma256: *who signed up and then the one after that..
Plasma256: *that first guy was me, and I must have gone through members for about a month man.. most of them just
Plasma256: *proving that everyone else in the clans was crappy at best
Plasma256: *but in the end, I never got to face tupac for that title... about a month after the inter-clan war had been going on
Plasma256: *some guy named "gambit-" who had just joined the clan that day beat me
Plasma256: *I can't remember exactly why he won... but I think it was a combination of a) he actually was fairly good

Plasma256: *as opposed to almost everyone else I faced. and b) I was sick of fighting everyone in the clan and being

Plasma256: *and that was that.. great rivalry just abandoned because I didn't havea way of facing him down..

Plasma256: *what really gets to me is that gambit- did not have to play against anyone else but me and tupac
Plasma256: *I mean, I spent a MONTH hunting down people to play this one guy... and then some other guy who joined that very day

SByrdNC3: *How did you find SFO?

DarkPaladinX2: *hmm...that's a good question..it all happened....last year tomorrow (oct 1, 04). I was just sitting at my computer b/c my ps2 got real boring. Someone who i met in another community (Burner47) asked "if i ever heard of Street Fighter?" I told him "of course. SF is pretty good." he then told me about this game.
DarkPaladinX2: *that same day, i remembered my love for Street Fighter (which keeps me enjoying this game)
DarkPaladinX2: *that's about all i can remember about that day

SByrdNC3: *since you've been here for such a short time do you feel you've made an impact to the community?

DarkPaladinX2: *Well, i personally, don't think that i've made THAT much of an impact. I just think that my efforts i made to help out were noticed. What i've done so far is nothing, compared to what other have done.

SByrdNC3: *Who's your greatest rival?
SByrdNC3: *And who do you idolize

DarkPaladinX2: *Rivals. I don't have any rivals. There isn't like a person on this game (at the moment) that CAN'T be beat. So i find no reason to try and compete with them.
DarkPaladinX2: *if there was a person who (almost) never lost, then i would consider it a challenge
DarkPaladinX2: *if i lose. Then i would consider that person..a rival
DarkPaladinX2: *for the reason of trying to be as skilled
DarkPaladinX2: *Who i idolize??? I most of the people i do idolize have been playing this game from before my time. I try and read up on old SFO news and topics (before the corruption) to see who was talked about alot. One person would be Nferno666. since he held the top rank for such a while, not to mention he's archived as rank 1 a few times. That, to me, is someone to be idolized. Regardless if they play less now than they did before..
DarkPaladinX2: *I would like to say i diolize tarkanX, but he left SFO before i came. SO i had no chance to meet him at all. Old stories say that he was another skilled user, and won his share of tournaments. That takes skill, that should be recognized..I idolize that in people

DarkPaladinX2: *unfortunately, there are no (current) fighters that i idolize

SByrdNC3: *Have you ever tuaght a new user how to play sfo?And do you have any students in sfo?

DarkPaladinX2: *I've taught people how to play. How much? i don't remember. i try to help out. even when i first started out. i would practice with other new users, so we would both learn, without begging for people to teach us in the chat servers..Back in about january, i had a couple students. I taught them all i knew about SFO. I mainly "tried" to teach them about using ALL the moves into a fighitng style/technique. So that they don't become a "projectile freak"
DarkPaladinX2: *but after a short while, i became busy with life and such. So, i wasn't available to teach people. When i came back, i ended up losing some of my skill, and couldn't teach anymore
DarkPaladinX2: *but i'm working on teaching new users again

After the update, still keeping contact with TMyApp, he just metioned he talk to the other admins about me (honest, i thought i was in trouble)..and he asked if i wanted to on a respsonsibility of NWO..after tellin me the ground rules and such, i guess it was as it is now...

Tantum 38: *The day I first started playing, I had just got back from vacation, I was out of highschool, and I was bored, so I was looking for some games to play, and ran into XMvsSF.
Tantum 38: *6 days later I was the points leader, with some 600+ (60+ wins) above the #2 (Zing79)
Tantum 38: *I don't know how the ratings work now.
Tantum 38: *But when you were ranked above the player you were fighting, if you won, you only got 10 points...
Tantum 38: *So creating a big lead wasn't easy.

Steventhebol1: *Well it is kind of blurry but i can tell you.
Steventhebol1: *Ive been playing this xvssf/sfo game since september of 2001 (the beginning stages where it was just ryu)
Steventhebol1: *Ive faught many people such as the best known veterans Nferno666 and TarkanX (In his prime he was a beast)
Steventhebol1: *I really got into the spotlight of everything around either 2002 or 2003 when i started joining some clans on bg

SByrdNC3: *what about the first clan website

Steventhebol1: *well my first clan never had a web site
Steventhebol1: *my first clan was actually a "####ie clan"
Steventhebol1: *it was called dark army and it was created by phage_legion and a guy named jeff_x (something like that)

SByrdNC3: *phage legion now leads fluffy kitties with lancer_px

Steventhebol1: *actually phage isn't there anymore. He was co-leader with lancer for a long while but he decided that he needed to leave since he wasn't going to really be used for many matches. His skills on the game had diminished
Steventhebol1: *This happened pretty recently. Like 2 months ago..

SByrdNC3: *Sorry I usually keep track of these things without flaw...

Steventhebol1: *It's no problem
Steventhebol1: *he left without big notice
Steventhebol1: *As for dark army, I realized I needed to move on from them and thats when a guy named dark-link (who I had faced in a clan battle while in dark army) had offered me a chance to join his clan

SByrdNC3: *The infamous dark-link

Steventhebol1: *yes he was really good
Steventhebol1: *I eventually ended up leaving dark army and joining his clan cc (his clan had merged with another at the time making it the best clan at the time)

SByrdNC3: *choas knights
SByrdNC3: *Dark knights & choas core

Steventhebol1: *yes the best clan merger ever made in my opinion
Steventhebol1: *many strong members
Steventhebol1: *no other clan was able to stop us once we merged together
Steventhebol1: *Anyways, I got myself familiar with most of the members of the clan like doomtrain (link's right hand man) Angelwings, xyerx, dark_masta, xfaderx, etc.
Steventhebol1: *and got introduced to a clan website that they had made for the clan
Steventhebol1: *We chatted alot with each other on msn and got into many clan matches until....
Steventhebol1: *Tmy_app got into some trouble with marve|
Steventhebol1: * And marve| demanded that he shut the game down

SByrdNC3: *yes we all recall the day the dream almost died.

Steventhebol1: *yeah after that few of us in ck decided to stay together and keep up with xvssf by playing the online emulator xvssf and other emulators that could be played online
Steventhebol1: *but eventually everyone got bored of this and went their seperate ways
Steventhebol1: *As for me I had started creating gfx in bg for a while and then decided to leave bg after the forum closed down

SByrdNC3: *for some reason gfx seems like a nice way to retire.

Steventhebol1: *yeah it really is. Good use of spar time if your good at creating them
Steventhebol1: *I was just ok with making them
Steventhebol1: *and allowed most of the people on bg to rate me
Steventhebol1: *After 2 years or so of leaving that all behind I finally came back after some friends told me about xvssf being back (this time as sfo)
Steventhebol1: *They had told me about this information earlier before the 2 years but I really didnt feel like coming back
Steventhebol1: *Anyways I came back and started fighting some people for a while......
Steventhebol1: *After a week or so. Lancer_PX (who I really didn't know that well at the time but somehow he knew me) chatted with me about maybe joining t**

SByrdNC3: *how did this transaction accure

Steventhebol1: *no Ive never been in 3D
Steventhebol1: *I'm in Fc2 now

Steventhebol1: *I was hesistant at first. 1) because of the t** name and 2) because I really didn't know too many people in the clan
Steventhebol1: *But after a while I decided to just go ahead and join the clan (at the time they were 2nd best to 3D)
Steventhebol1: *As with ck I got familiar with some of its members and had been put in my first clan match in 2 years against westside assassians
Steventhebol1: *_Dmx_was made to be the very first person that has ever beaten me in a clan match

SByrdNC3: *Interesting

Steventhebol1: *After my lost against him, Lancer had put me on the sidelines for a while (I guess cause he was nervous that I would lose another match or something) and I had just been waiting for another chance at a clan match
Steventhebol1: *A few weeks had passed since the clan match and a friend from the ck clan (Apathy) wanted me to get out of t** and join the clan he and phage were going to make called The Fantanas (I think it is a gfx clan now)
Steventhebol1: *I didn't want to really jump out of t** at the moment since I didn't feel like things getting messy so I declined his offer

SByrdNC3: *That makes sense

Steventhebol1: *Yeah. So some time passed and I heard about my old clan members doomtrain and angelqings recreating their FC clan (It would also be a reunion of cc members)
Steventhebol1: *So I decided to drop out of t** and help them out with their clan, which is where I stand at today.

SByrdNC3: *And how did you ever find XMVSSF
SByrdNC3: *in your youth..

Steventhebol1: *through arcadepod.com and I think I may have been 13
Steventhebol1: *before xvssf I played runescape
Steventhebol1: *which was also a game i found on that site

SByrdNC3: *And who was your greatest rival in the sfo community or XMVSSF community

Steventhebol1: *never really had a rival really. I just liked playing the game. Although I did get a kick out of beating the hard opponents
Steventhebol1: *Also didn't idolize anybody but if it were anybody it would have Nferno666 and TarkanX back in 2001 and early 2002's. Alot of people wanted to copy their names and steal their ranks
Steventhebol1: *there were also a few other really good ryu fighters back then
Steventhebol1: *but they were the two big names that most vets that are still on would talk about
Steventhebol1: *both were guarenteed to give a good fight

SByrdNC3: *Anything miscellaneous you'd like to say.

Steventhebol1: *Rank as opposed to today in sfo was the most important thing to people

i've had convos with some of everybody here at px,80% of the convos were a bit off the wall/wacky,i'm on a new pc right,srry i can't post the chat sessions i've had (it seems i went apepoop on my pc with a crowbar,heehee).

feartetsuo: *I found the game on accident. I was searching for some stuff on DBZ using works like vegets, dbz, fusion, etc... And fusion was apart of the SFO url. the URL was projectx.cyberfuturism.com . So the search brought me the SFO site. I loaded it to see what it was all about and I liked it.

The user that I respect the most would have to be ofcourse TarkanX. He has guided me through this game and has been a good friend to me. Even in the old days when I got the edge on him he was still gracious and a very respectable person.

feartetsuo: *Hmm......Just to all the new fighters that to not concentrate on rank. Rank isnt everything that makes a great player. You need to take time to learn the game and to develope your own style of fighting. Just have a good time and try to enjoy your time here.

SByrdNC3: How did you find SFO,and what drived you to create your current user name.

Restavega: I found SFO on Arcadepod.com. I was looking for a game that was flash/shockwave and had an online based multiplayer, believe it or not. This game didn't impress me right away to say the least but then it grew on me. The name I have I made up I had created a month or so before. I was thinking of something original... no numbers or underscores.... and boof! It just hit me.
Restavega: When I first played SFO... I was shocked.
Restavega: Not because I was impressed, but because of the lag!

SByrdNC3: I see

Restavega: I was like "How could anyone enjoy this game?" to myself.
Restavega: And I even remember playing someone and we were discussing it. My first match and the two of us were talking about the game.
Restavega: That was my first interaction with an SFO opponent.
Restavega: Just chit chatting for 10 minutes about why we shouldn't play this game.
Restavega: And so the match ended and we parted and I refused to ever play again.... then every so often I would load it up and play...
Restavega: Then stop...
Restavega: but then I would play again but not by a week interval... but again just the next day! And I was thinking to myself "Why do I have an urge to play this game...?"
Restavega: Next thing I knew, I was playing all the time every time I got on the computer.

SByrdNC3: SFO withdrawal 

Restavega: The symptoms were hitting me hard.
Restavega: I was just drawn to it.
Restavega: Weird experience.

Restavega: A decent Akuma, timing on a keyboard, and a bunch of victorious tag teams.

Restavega: I didn't really have goals... but if it had to be anything I was proud of it would be those.

SByrdNC3: Do you feel that you are an accomplished individual overall?

Restavega: Yes.

Restavega: Playing with Akuma, alone.
Restavega: Has taught me that it's not the dog in the fight but the fight in the dog.
Restavega: Any character can tear down a health bar you just have to have the talent.
Restavega: Too many times I heard how a character was cheap or "I'll beat you with so-and-so because so-and-so sucks and I didn't want them."
Restavega: At first I would run from Akuma... but then I learned that I can win.
Restavega: I can make something out of him.
Restavega: I just had to become comfortable with the moves and understand the other characters.
Restavega: Then, when I would pick another character, I continued to win. So, it's all about having a strong sense of the game.
Restavega: This game has basically just taught me that...
Restavega: Any tool is useful if you know how to use it.

Restavega: We would tag together and from there I would teach her what to do and what not to do.
Restavega: Trunks I'm in the process of teaching but he is a fine fighter now. Versatility just isn't his strongest feature.
Restavega: Some other fighters have thanked me for training them... even when I didn't do much.
Restavega: Training with someone is just about giving them constructive criticism.

SByrdNC3: Did anyone teach you how to play sfo?

Restavega: No... I just learned from the beatings I took.
Restavega: Anyone who was better taught me. I knew I could become better but I never got attention to train.
Restavega: You really don't need a trainer.
Restavega: Does try things until they work.
Restavega: SFO is all abotu improvising.
Restavega: *about

Restavega: There are people on the forum that never play the game
Restavega: then there are people in the game that are never on the forum.
Restavega: We need more of people in the game.
Restavega: You're not really in the community if you're just posting away.

kemalkurtsoy: hmmm interesting question well if you must know DA_VIPA is actually my 3rd username before i was unkown some could remember me as kemal2002 back in 2001 and i came back at the end of 2002 as viper2003. viper because i've always been fond of the dodge viper after i saw that i wasnt the only person with viper in their name i decided to innovate and make my username more 'urban' hence DA_VIPA.

SByrdNC3: and finding sfo?

kemalkurtsoy: lol some people may get offended by this but i was trying to get xmvsf on mame but i could never get it to work i was searching on google and if i remember correctly there was one link that wasnt emulator related '×-men vs streetfighter online' i was curious from the start and when i think about it when i 1st went on the site i was not expecting it to become such an addictive game and soon after emulation wasnt on my mind for a long time

SByrdNC3: What were your greatest accomplishments on XMVSSF/SFO.

kemalkurtsoy: whoo. greatest accomplishments huh?

SByrdNC3: What did you do well and know you did it well.

kemalkurtsoy: well to me my greatest accomplishment has always been that i managed to get amoungst the elite fighters back in 2003 my rivalries with then big time fighters dark-link,yourassismy and digital fighter put me in the thick of the rank battle back then. and im proud that over the years iv managed to maintain my place amoungst the best whereas most lose interest or can not adapt to the ever fast growing world of sfo

SByrdNC3: Anything else you'd like to add.

kemalkurtsoy: in terms of achievements in general i have won a few major tournaments. the 1st being the millenium tournament hosted by haomaru2 my ex-clan leader back when i was with the powerful samurai's that was when i just couldnt be beaten if i remember correctly i had a win-loss ratio of 20:1 and the tournament if i recall correctly i beat my own clan leader in the semi-finals and i had to face kidkrazy$hit who back then was a lot more notorious for his ryu rather his modship skills i remember his lime green ryu and past encounters where he schooled me in the past but in that specific match up it was best of 7 so it could of went either way. the way that final finished ended was sort of bitter as kks mature as he is now showed his aggression with the game when i went 2-0 and signaled a forfeit this is the 1st time anybody has learnt the truth of that tournament.
kemalkurtsoy: we both agreed to just say that i won 4-0.. the victory had no taste.. and the glory was dampened but i wasnt going to let that get me down.
kemalkurtsoy: from that moment on i prided myself on being fair to all my oponents and showing them that i do not need to stoop to win.
kemalkurtsoy: i won a few weekly tournaments hosted by kks and in the official rankings i was in the top 5 along with tidus, digital fighter and resident_evil2

kemalkurtsoy: in which you my friend are very aware of
kemalkurtsoy: one of my favourite and prosperous students dasupertrooper told me one day he wanted to form a clan

kemalkurtsoy: at 1st i was reluctant to join as i felt like i was drifting from clan to clan from where i went from samurai's to dark knights to ruff ryders to px ballas etc..

kemalkurtsoy: and made a real impact upon the clan world
kemalkurtsoy: we had such a great run until we hit a few snags along the way but still managed to hold our own amoungst the best the clan world had to offer. we had very little to use but our resources were incredibly talented dasupertrooper who has excellant wolverine and chun li ability same can be said about shisio1.
kemalkurtsoy: ak47 who had a rampant bison
kemalkurtsoy: duze with his sly wolverine and sentinel
kemalkurtsoy: and me with well.. my arsenal of characters in my bag
kemalkurtsoy: it seemed like the run was going to last forever until we hit a wall
kemalkurtsoy: one of our major assests ak47 decided to leave as he felt like his time on sfo was limited
kemalkurtsoy: eventually we all became inactive.. i was banned from bg so i could not take part in clan fights
kemalkurtsoy: banished to watch my clan die
kemalkurtsoy: in which i put so much effort into

kemalkurtsoy: who knows maybe one day it may be revived
kemalkurtsoy: but i dont make assumptions like that

kemalkurtsoy: the greatest friends being digita~fighter the sleeping moderator of sfo

kemalkurtsoy: and was always at war with dark-link and yourassismy for the rankings back then.
kemalkurtsoy: well.. until nferno came and swooped everyone out the picture
kemalkurtsoy: with his n00b killing technique that nobody else could manage to do
kemalkurtsoy: when i was in samurai's
kemalkurtsoy: ruff ryders were a powerful clan also
kemalkurtsoy: i always had confrontations with them specially morpheusX and italy
kemalkurtsoy: and now i get along really well with them
kemalkurtsoy: funny how time changes everything

kemalkurtsoy: and a kid called dasupertrooper joins my game
kemalkurtsoy: and gets the living daylights beaten out of him

kemalkurtsoy: but i could see clearly he had potential to become pretty good
kemalkurtsoy: so i taught him some techniques for him with cyc,chun and ryu

kemalkurtsoy: and it was a nice coinsedence that he was living in the u.k also
kemalkurtsoy: even though he was older than myself i was still his teacher and he my lil apprentice

kemalkurtsoy: which was one of the best chun-li users around
kemalkurtsoy: another good friend of mine is abdoun back
kemalkurtsoy: 'the arabian stallion' as he calls himself
kemalkurtsoy: before meeting me in battle i dont think he ever heard of me before as i rarely do play these days

kemalkurtsoy: and as time went on he's gradually gotten used to the intesne fights i endure
kemalkurtsoy: now he is a pretty formiddable oponent i wont take credit for it as he put his heart on his fists and swings like a mad man
kemalkurtsoy: he is one of few to see that my talent with ryu,cyclops and bison are not the only characters i can use pretty much any character to its full potential.. except spidey an sakura
kemalkurtsoy: another nice rivalry i had was with viper2040
kemalkurtsoy: i can still remember when me and him 1st started going at it hammer an tongs
kemalkurtsoy: it was shortly after spidey was released and at the time his cheap superiority was not well known in the community even to me. he's in the chat room with me and i say 'anybody here worth beating' purposely to get a response out of somebody
kemalkurtsoy: viper replies with your just rank 1.. whereas i am a veteran
kemalkurtsoy: obviously i never heard of him before this encounter
kemalkurtsoy: but it didnt make a difference
