Bob, try contacting Avast! if they have some form of clearing up a false-positive. I used the Norton/Symantec "Insight Dispute Submission" form and they cleared up the problem in two days.

Avast! did the same thing to me today too, I'm redownloading SFX now, it got about 2 mb into the download and came up with a Virus alert, saying SFX.exe had a Win32.Malware Trojan Virus ???
I clicked on the false positive button and filled out the form to send to Avast HQ so hopefully they will work it out.

I just went into virus vault, restored the .exe, then added it to the exclusions list.

Good stuff. Hope it sticks. Norton wasn't having any of that restore and exclude business.

actually, i downloaded 87.8 MB of sfx.exe (not the full 88.6) and then as it was trying to save the newly downloaded copy to my desktop Windows7 then gave me message "You must have administrator privliges to create this file" . Yet it didn't let me open up any box to do so... so basically my 80+mb download was for nothing, i had to cancel it...
anyone got ideas? I'm the only user of this computer... no log in or passwords.
