Default The Ultimate TV for gaming and movies

As the title suggest, I'm looking for the best kind of tv for gaming and movies.
If you know anything about tvs post here

What is the best contrast ratio? (heard that it matters more than res)

LCD,LED,wait for OLED or Plasma for gaming?

Input lag,how much it matters?

Tell me what kind of TV you game and watch movies on and how it works for you.
Also I'm trying to buy something affordable highest is 1k.

The help is much appreciated.

I usually upgrade my tv every year cause they get outdated frequently.
I don't know much about tvs in general but I can talk about the ones I've bought lol

I bought a Samsung 60 inch LED, 3D, SmartTV(internet), 240 hz refresh rate last year for my living room.
I have my Samsung 47 inch LED, 60 Hz I bought a couple years ago in my bedroom.

Tbh I can't really tell a huge difference between them but several people I know say it's a noticeable difference when they watch or play on my tvs. I've heard games look better on plasma but I can't really say cause I don't have one. Probably only gamers can tell the difference lol.

buy a 120hertz one. those 60hertz sucks badly compared to it. much smoother on a 120hertz.
thats the refresh rate by the way...

aside from that...
im on 32 inch dynex LCD.
its been quite fine for me for the 5 years i've had it.
as for size... well its gaming... so the bigger the better.

go for the new LG 80inch !

Yeah I've been hearing plasma is the best for gaming. Guys I've talked to said plasma is more immersive due to the accuracy of the picture along with deeper black levels that allow it to replicate a true to life picture.

Plasma is currently the best for picture quality and gaming, but you have to take into consideration where you plan to place the Plasma Screen TV.

Direct sunlight affects the picture quality due to the screen being glass and light reflecting off it. You have to avoid windows.. Even if you have blinds, it will still bother the picture quality. lol.

Same with lamps and artificial light. The more light you have in front of the television, the worst the glare will be.

So unless you plan on gaming in your room (blinds would be a requirement) or in a basement, I'd avoid Plasma, and just stick with a LED TV.

also plasma has a shorter life span than LCD - LED . But it's true about the better blacks on a plasma.

caveat about refresh rates advertised by TV companies. Generally you could call them fake.

When LG claims 120hz TruMotion technology, they mean to say that they have a 60hz panel and technology that creates extra frames to be "120hz" Basically you're still getting 60hz input and the TV just adds frames in between to make it 120hz

Juzie's Samsung with "240hz" is actually Clear Motion Rate of 240hz and is most likely either a 60hz or 120hz panel with added frames in between.

Yeah I plan on gaming in my bedroom, I was thinking about putting it in my living room, but too many windows where the sun shines bright in there.

Bump:

Eh idk about that man, I have a 39 inch LED 120HZ Toshiba TV and the LED went out and picture wouldn't show up. Luckly I had a warranty and I sent it back to get fixed though, but the screen went out in less then a year. I know some people with Panasonic's and samsung who have had there plasma for over 4 years which is more then enough lifespan for me.
I guess it all depends though.

It's true in most cases Plasma TVs don't last as long. With a plasma TV you get the smooth picture but you also get the bad glare if you have a lamp/ window nearby.

LED is supposed to be the best of both worlds but it still doesn't look as good as a plasma imo

you see what i heard was a tad different about plasma versus LCD... i heard that bigger TV like beyond 40inches was better as plasma TV and anything below that threshold was just better with LCD.

mind you this is what i heard from people trying to sell me things, so who knows...
but my uncle who works in electronics, repairing everything seems to go in that direction too.

but i'd say...
buy yourself a projector, and dedicate your entire room to your experience.

If you're gaming in your bedroom, how big do you want the TV to be?

Isn't a 50 inch tv a little to big to game on in the bedroom? You'll be having a hard time trying to focus on the game after awhile.

But then again, that depends on what you'll be mostly playing.

I wanted the TV to be in the living room, but my gf was like nope cause she watches TV in there and her friends come over and what not to watch tv. The bedroom isn't small though its pretty big since its the main one of the apartment.
But I'll mostly be playing singleplayer games and I plan on getting BF4 when they clean up the game cause I hear its very unstable, but I only play singleplayer most of the time.

Should get something around 42-50 inch then.

Also, you could play BF4 now its stable for the most part. Though save your singleplayer progress on a usb stick cause the game will randomly corrupt your save file.
