I know in the past people weren't able to play SFO on Mac's OS, but are we finally now able to? Has anyone found a way?

it's virtualized software, I don't see why it won't work. It'll be like you're using a pc, but on a mac.
![]() everything within the virtual environment does just about everything the real OS does exactly. So you should be good. |

After an unbelievable effort I can now not only play, but I can set my ram anywhere between 512mb and 4gb.
The only downside is that the game kicks me when I play at my optimal speed. |

Glad I can be of assistance. Also about your ram thing. Once inside windows, you can set up paging file, so that your memory will be used through your hard drive instead of your actual ram.
but thats a whole nother story xD |

I had a hard enough time figuring out how to port forward with it. Lol, actually from start to finish it took me like 4 hours to get it where it is now.
Still, if you can help me stop the game from kicking me when I use upwards of 2gb then that would be epic, because it honestly makes lag almost nonexistan. Regardless of whether or not you can, +1000000000000 rep for this wonder fix. |

Ok Highlight = what you have to click.
Step 1: Set your Windows RAM to 512mb. Step 2 So first Windows Start button > right click computer > Click properties. ![]() Step 3 Click Advanced System Settings >Advanced Tab > under performance> click Settings > Then Advanced Tab again > under "Virtual Memory" click change. You can either set it for windows to automatically do it. or you can set a custom range. ![]() ![]() p.s: Feel free to post this as sticky for future members on Mac ![]() also, not sure if you've done so already but, Change the priorities of GV to "high" and SFO's priority to "Above normal" that should work. If not just let me know what happens. Last edited by (-Kam-); 08-09-2013 at 09:58 AM. |

If anyone needs help doing this, contact me. I kind of found my own solution using the software from Kam's link. I run Windows XP in my virtual machine, which I feel is probably the best version of windows to run.
But seriously, if anyone needs help contact me. ![]() |

This is lame... I wish one could just download a mac SFO version instead of all this going around it nonsense. But then again, macs aren't made for games... Wish I could play this again though. I kinda miss it!

From what I remember there are no shortcuts. You have to bypass like 12 firewalls just to host, you have to know the optimal settings of your VM in correlation to the computer you're using (I was using a SLOS, so I had like 16gb of ram to play with). There are a bunch of things to take into consideration. That being said after like 8 hours of tinkering I wasn't just hosting on a Mac, I was dominating. I was, however, GV locked, could only run SFO Vista, and got kicked every two-three matches. Haha. Good times. |
