Do you believe Hip-hop is dead?

I do.... Most of the poop they do is the same. They beef to much, and they can't rap for nother. Young Joc for example can't even rap. he making up words like crazy. most of the people on this forum can rap better than him.

Also, the money, the clothes, and hoes. way too much of it. No one can rap about anything else, except Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco?

Busta Ryhmes always comes with cool material, always different. So as long as there are creative ppl hip-hop wont die. Also Snoop has been releasing stuff - if I am not mistaken - since 1993.(Not sure of the date) And yeah Eminem and Nas.

Yes hip-hop is dead mainstream wise though...

All these labels are signing the same type of rappers to make more money. [mostly the south]

Also, piracy is messing up hip hop aswell.. artist who used to sell aren't selling as they used to.

But it give a few more years and all these corny rappers will be forgetten...

Hopefully this year the sales and the quality of music will be much better with Kanye/Dre/Common/Wu-tang clan/Prodigy[from Mobb deep with HNIC2]Nas[possible] and etc are going to come out with new albums.

So talking about the same stuff you've talking about since doggystyle, is keeping hip hop alive??

Pfft, if anything it's killing it.. c'mon snoop stop with all these gang banging stuff and pimping females. This isn't the 90's..

Dmx's, lord give me a sign was acutally a good song. How was it crappy?..

As for nas and jay-z... they're getting older, of course they're not going to sound the same as their debut. Why? because it's called growing as an artist meaning trying new things and such. But Nas lyrical ability is still the same as before, so I don't see the problem here.

So what is a full time rapper??

FYI... Nas ALWAYS releases an album every two years except for some albums. So how isn't he a full time rapper?

Now as for Jay-z... are you serious? >_>

You do realize he's the president of Def Jam and has more important stuff to do then be a rapper and create songs.

As for Ice cube, he's now an actor/rapper so I'm pretty sure he's always type busy with movies and such.

Ok.

I'm talking about LYRICS.

Games lyrics aren't below average
Young Dro's aren't either.

i hate how people base on the topic they rap about, rather then the quality of the lyrics. Multis, vocabulary, bars.

Most of the people i bolded haven't even come out with a hit in the past 5 months to a year.

G-unit has the get rich or die tryin 50 cent, apparently. And they also have banks and buck. tony yayo is just a retard.

Lil jon PRODUCES.

He either:

Says the chorus, says "YEAH, OK" or like 5 words. thats not rapping.

Oh please, if some lyrics are repetive, [young dro, game] atleats they don't say..

"HO, GO IN MY CAR/
OR ILL BEAT U OUT THE TAR/"

They can atleast make 8 word bars.

and Jkwon...

do you even know dubya tee eff you're talking about? *Who cares if they're overated. Atleast they make quality songs without one word lyrics.

Nas and Jay-Z not full time rappers? they just released TWO new albums.
And, who cares if they're not as good as they used to, again they don't make crappy lyric songs.

My bad, Nas isn't as main-streamed as he was when he was when Pac and Big were around. some songs from the early millinium.

Jay-Z.... I don't believe he is a Full-time rapper. He is busy doing his commerical's and everything pormoting stuff, being President. like Cwing said

I didn't say they were crappy.... I said they aren't as good as they used to be.

Alright, if you can sing good and your subject matter is crappy and repeatative like most these rappers. Then you as an artist are crap, since you can't expand your lyrical content.

So it feels like listening to a the same song over and over again. Take Rick Ross as an example... Port Of Miami was like 70 min song about crack.

If not then how about Too Short aka Short Dawg. He discography is like a 20 hour song about talking about women in a negative way.

If you were such a good artist, then you wouldn't to keep talking about that. C'mon.. a good artist should know how to make songs about different subjects.

If you want to talk about quality.. do you think game's [or any rapper who talks about the same subject] album people would actually play the album 5+ more years from now, frequently for the lyrics??

I doubt they will since the can go to most of artist and hear the same thing in this rap decade so far.

Now if you think game delivers quality lyrics then something must be wrong with your hearing. But in this era rap yeah cause everyone else is too.

But if game was to release the songs he does now during the mid 80's and early 90's when people actually had taste for music. They would've ignored him.

I said he had skill in making lyrics better than joc or whatever.

The subject matter isn't ALL that important, aslong as i have the talent to sing... well i have the talent to sing.

I know what you're talking about, him name dropping. But thats FAR from worse then some of the south puts out. Atleast he can make something good out of it, not make garbage and turn it into bigger garbage.

they wouldn't ignore him, or snoop.

90's was the gangsta rap movement era.

from 91 to later than pacs death.

I already said that game name dropped, but he didn't make crap lyrics out of it.

Ex: Dreams, hate it or love it, 360 degreez[ nice multi syllables], Hustlers, ol english..

Lets see.....Is Hip Hop dead hmmm NO there are people all over the world that represent the original roots of it, and will probably go out doing it. As for the "CRap" most kids listen these days I pity them since there brains have only matured listen to this brain rotting music. "Rap" died about 6 or 7 years ago, give or take a few years if you wish. Rarely do you see "Real" MC's let alone MC's that uphold the original idea behind "Hip Hop". Most of them could't bust a sick ass flow off the top of the dome even if there brand new pink shirts were on the line. If Biggie were alive today he would die right now from the shame of having to try and compete with these fake-ass *******s. Whether or not the content of the subject matters the fact is today these artist have dried up a well and hardly have anything relevant to speak about. Back in the 90's it was gangsta rap but it was relevant and it grew as the artist grew, but most of the MC's back then have fallen into the same hole. The only thing that could save these has-been artists, or the annoying idiots that followed them would be to search long and hard inside themselves and try to get back into the place they were at when they where enjoying it. I doubt it will happen since fame has consumed there very essence, and I once remembered when back when you heard someone kick a beat and follow up with an ill flow they were seeking recognition not fame. True MC's like Biggie(who had an uncanny ability to bust sick off the top of the dome)got recognized for what they were and that was nothing more and nothing less then a sick MC(uck thes fakes who need pencil and paper).

Now that we got that covered...let's explain...
Do you know that this is the 1st Lord song out of ALL his albums to be put on video?
"Lord Give Me A Sign" Was the most powerful out of ALL the lord songs and prayers DMX made on his albums.....
Alot of ppl didnt even know DMX made church songs....when they 1st heard "Lord Give Me A Sign" they though DMX changed...no no no...he BEEN had his swagger like that...yall gotta understand that.
so explain how is that crappy?
I am just saying today's Lord give me a sign is terrible. I'm not going to lie about that. And I have heard every single song that were great singles, and he mentions the lord, I wasn't shocked when he made the song. But I thought he got saved.

Old DMX, way way better than today's DMX. I Miss You, That is a God song he put out in 2000 or 2001. I think that is the most powerful lord song he has done out of all the god songs. I miss you, to Lord Give me a sign. It's like night and day.
