Default see host after game started

Just an idea for the ability to still see the host once a game has been started.

That way if you come into the chatroom and there's noone there, you can check "join a game" and see if there are games in progress. At least then you'll know if there are other people playing, rather than just thinking that nobody is on the game at all.

It should say something like:

estset's game (in progress - cannot join)

Nice idea, sorta like the SFX hosting system. when you can see if a game is in progress or not.

i agree and you can click on it so that the players cant rematch and it will bring them back

I love this idea, but the problem is whenever a player starts a game I think they enter a separate server on the host IP? I really don't know. 0_o


Still, putting up a ghost in its place once it starts sounds pretty simple enough.

actually wolf...
there is no server involved once the game starts. hence why tmyapp couldn't make you go back to the servers if you had joined a game entirely.

thing is, once the game is started. people aren'T on SFO server anymore. they are in host computer. and tmyapp has no way to know on which computer you are. he can only reconnect tot he game chat server once the game is finished. so in-between is stuck with no info.

hopefully if we attain the goals set by tmyapp. this will change entirely as there wont be P2P anymore and we'll have server side and client side with latency to back lag up.

Which is basically a confirmation of what I said, which makes no sense because you disagree with me.

That being said, keeping a ghost in its place on the hosted games list seems simple enough because sometimes there's a ghost there anyway. RIGHT? You go into the server after you close your game and see a ghost of the game you just hosted.... RIGHT?

and this convo is relevant in what part ? we all know that this thread is irrevlevant now that tmyapp gave us his idea of SFO 2.0.

and yes i did confirm that SFO was P2P. but you said it was easy... im telling you, no it isn't as easy.
because once thegame starts there is no single trace left.
and giving the servers, swhich tmyapp as already a trouble keeping with. already has problems holding out info. and yet you want it to keep yet another info on the server. not to mention that keeping an info on the server is not even possible. because the server wouldn'T know if th egame has started or not. because the server isn't in the game. it would require it to go into the game to know the status of said game.

overall, the only way to ake this work... would of been to make it client side...
the client sends his info to the chat server and the chat server puts in it whats the client says.
but again thats yet another job for the server to take. and thats already a big problem...

but again, why is this still going...
this game wont be P2P anymore.

the "suggestion" post was added BEFORE TMyApp posted his latest thread. If you go by your logic then 99.9% of threads in the forum are now irrelevant - but look, they are still here!

You also said yourself Karma, that the new system will more than likely take the whole year before it even comes into action, so this is just a suggestion in the meantime for discussion.

Make it so that it's like SFX, that's all I'm saying, so we know there is people in the game (just already involved in a game) that's all.

I think this would be a great way to keep track of how many users that can host. There's another game called Half-life: Counterstrike, that kinda has something like that. or was it another game?
