Default League of Legends in-depth guide.

In-depth Guide TO

[What is League of Legends?]

League of Legends is a free-to-play RTS game which was an evolution of a well known mod for WC3 called Defense of the Ancients (DotA). Many of you might think this is a ***, stupid, or even a waste of time game.. but think again! If you try it out, you'll be surprised how fun this game is. For those who are knowledge of W.O.W or DotA, you should be able to play this game as it's similar to those two games.

[How to Get The Game]
Follow this link http://signup.leagueoflegends.com/?ref=4c5bc9fd5ada8
A new page will come up and that's where you will have to fill in your information (to log in the game)
After you're done filling in all your info click on the BIG RED button saying "Play For Free"
When that's done, download the game and wait till installation is finished! And you're all set to go into the battlefield!

The Lanes
Summoners Rift Lanes

Summoners Rift has 3 lanes which are TOP, MID and BOT.
Those are the primary lanes in the game. There is a fourth "lane" which is jungle (the forest).
Summoners Rift is the main map for 5v5 games in Blind Pick games and Draft, oh as well as Ranked.
That's the only map League currently has for those game modes.

Twisted Tree Line Lanes

Twisted Tree Line has only TWO lanes and an optional lane is the jungle.
There is a top lane and a bottom lane.
This map is only used in 3v3 games for normals and ranked 3v3s.

The Structures

This is the nexus, your main goal of this game is to destroy this bad boy but first you have to get passed the towers which protect them.
Those are called turrets which you have to continue downwards to know what they are.
The Nexus is the protector of the game, once the nexus is destroyed you win the game or if they surrender.

This is what a turret looks like, if you go in and face 1v1 with it, the longer you stay the stronger it gets and you just end up dying.
Don't try to tank it unless you got a strong team with you to take it down. Always stay behind minions so the minions will take the damage!

This is what the inhibitor will look like in the game, those are protected by turrets which you must destroy first.
These are just for respawning super minions and if all inhibs are up they protect the Nexus from being destroyed.

[In-depth Explanations of Modes & Features & Other Explanations]

Free Champion Week: Free champion week is basically every week Riot decides to put 10 champions out for free for players to play it. They do this in order for league players to try them out (If they have not played the champion before) and if they like it they buy it. They do this every week starting Monday. These champions cannot be used in Rank Mode.

Ranking: Ranking/Ranked games is another version for draft mode which can only be played at level 30. You will also have to own at least more than 16 champions not including free week champions. Players when playing ranked are placed on a game ladder and you will go against other people when you play ranked. This is like a competitive mode. When you're a new starter you will be in placement mode which means you have to play 10 rank games for you to be played at the elo you should be at. After 10 rank games you'll be gaining elo. If you lose a rank game you end up losing elo and your elo rating goes down. Players who don't play their first 10 games will not be able to see their rank games.

ARAM: Aram is short for all random all mid, this is always played by tons of league players who just want to have some fun and not be so competitive. You basically get picked a random champion when you go into champion select and then you will have to go mid that means EVERYONE must be in mid. There is a map called Proving Grounds which is mainly for people who play ARAM.

Custom Games: Custom games are just custom games where you can play against bots, friends, randoms just to mainly have fun. This is where you can play any mode you want to such as 3v3, 5v5, ARAM, Capture The Teemo, and many other modes. Custom games are different then normal games. You have the ability to leave a game, your K/D/A is not affected at all times, and so on. That's the short basic explanation on custom games.

Dominion: Dominion is a mode where you capture the shrines. This is different from TT & SF. This mode replaces some summoner spells with something else called Garrison and Fortify and some items have been disabled to purchase. The map used for this mode is called Crystal Scar which is just for dominion and custom made games. This mode is fast and short.

Summoners Rift: Summoners Rift which is also called the Field of Justice is basically a map for 5v5 games in Ranked, Draft and Normals. This map is different and the basic objective in this map is to destroy the opponents Nexus but first dominate through their turrets and inhibitors. That's how you win games in this mode.

Twisted Tree Line: Twisted Tree Line is a 3v3 mode which is used for all 3v3 games such as Ranked, Normals and customs. The map is much smaller and is pretty fun to play in.

Blind Pick: Blind pick is when you're going in champion selection you have the ability to choose who ever you want without the opponent knowing what you're picking hence "Blind" which means you cannot see or unable to see something. So you're basically picking a champion that the opponents don't know.

Draft Pick: Draft pick is when you're playing like a other version of ranked but you don't get rating or anything. This is when the leader (first person on the champion selection) will decide bans (this mode you can ban champions you want to ban) and after that you choose who ever you want to play in a order. It's like first person picks on your side then on opponents side. You CAN see the opponents champion they're picking and they can see yours as well. Also note that you are unable to choose the same champion if they took the champion you were planning to go. Only blind pick is where you can pick whoever you want.

Co-Op vs. AL: This is basically just a bot game, there are 2 levels of bots. Beginners and Intermediate. You can choose any and go against them. Beginner bots and Inter. are the same thing but different play style. This is recommended for those who are new to the game and to practice on using the keys, hot keys, interface, etc.

Elo/Elo Hell: Elo is basically your rating on your account. You get by winning rank games and ONLY rank games, basically your elo shows if you're higher than 1250 elo. Elo hell does not exist but their is low elo. Low elo are usually under 1200 and that's where you'll end up with noobs and it's just crazy down there. People who are under 1200 elo refers it as ELO HELL because of all the afkers, trolls, noobs, etc. But that's basically elo hell and elo.

Refunding: League has added a new feature in which you have the ability to refund champions, bundles, and skins. You only have a maximum of 3 refunds total so I recommend you choose what you want to refund wisely. After you refund you cannot undo the refund, and many users had to learn from the hard way. All you do is go to your purchases in the shop tab and you'll see a refund button. Note this only works if you purchased anything in the past 30 days.

PBE: PBE means Public Beta Environment. League has their own beta-testing server in which users are able to go and play on to test out upcoming new features and champions and provide feedback if they find any errors, bugs, etc. To sign up for PBE you will have to do the following;
Go to PBE Signup Page and sign up
Then download the client, patch it and run it.
When that's done, have fun beta-testing!

Killing Sprees/Streak: In League of Legends when you end up killing your opponents you can end up with a killing spree or a streak. A killing spree is when you start killing more than two people like if you killed 2 opponents at the same time that is a "Double Kill" and you can get up to a "Penta Kill" which means you killed all 5 teammates in a short period of time like at the same time for a few seconds at a time. If you take to long to get a kill like when you're at a double it'll reset back to a regular kill but you'll have a killing streak which adds up until you end up dead. That's basically what killing spree and streak is.

[Type of Roles]

Mages
Mages are champions who are powerful with strong magic damage (ability power) with the possibility of insta-killing an opponent with all of it's skills if they are in their current range. Mages are very shuishy but they can do massive amounts of damage that you/opponents always under-estimate. That's the reasoning on why they're protected by the team or the tank of their team. Their basic roles are CC, high burst AP dmg, and focusing on killing the strongest opponent.

Great Examples
Orianna
Swain
Ahri
LeBlanc
Cassiopeia
Rumble
Ryze
Karthus
Anivia
Annie
Morgana
Vladimir

Ranged DPS (AD Carry)
Ranged DPS/AD Carries are champions who are usually what the team pretty much depends on. These champions can deal a massive amount of damage from a great zoning position (behind a tank or something) and they're able to push and damage things from afar. The bad side of a ADC is that they're not tanky as others since they won't have much armor or MR on them which makes it difficult to kill unless solo 1v1.

Great Examples
Ezreal
Draven
Graves
Ashe
Caitlyn
Kog'Maw
Vayne
Twitch
Tristana
Sivir

Melee DPS
Melee DPS are bruisers who trade damage on other bruisers near or in front of them. These melee DPS players usually focus on the opponents ADC or APC (mage). Many champions rely on the melee DPS to start a fight so that they're distracted and will be able to kill anyone possible. The DPS's are usually the ones who do massive physical damage before they end up dying.

Great Examples
Darius
Xin Zhao
Lee Sin
Irelia
Nasus
Jayce
Olaf
Renekton

Tanks
Tanks are champions are the ones who can take so much damage without dying in a team fight or solo fight. They usually have a AOE stun or a stun or something that stuns an opponent which allows it's team to run in and fight. Tanks will generally have tons of health regeneration, massive armor and magic resistance which makes them unlikely to die unless all 5 opponents focus it which isn't common in a smart team fight.

Great Examples
Sejuani
Volibear
Nautilus
Amumu
Alistar
Maokai
Leona
Malphite
Shen

Supports
Supports are champions who have the ability to give bonuses to their team mates. Some champions have the power to heal, silence, stun, grab, and so on. A supports main role is to boost the team and to prevent the enemy from killing (like a tanks job). Some support champs are aggressive and some are not. It depends on who.

Great Examples
Taric
Nidalee
Alistar
Blitzcrank
Lux
Sona
Janna
Leona
Morgana
Lulu
Nami
Soraka

Actually, its Warcraft III !
league of legends was a total conversion of the warcraft III engine.
they eventually made their own game with it since it had nothing to do with Blizzards game anymore.

yup i know alot of ppl play this league of legends. The internet gaming cafes I see, lots of ppl playing this game (for sure) (no doubt). I rather not try it. Personally, I like Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne better than this.

Default Re: League of Legends in-depth guide.

Considered its not the same thing at all.

there is this type of tower defense that appeared back in warcraft III era, where you had a base and it was sending troops and your goal was to overpower the opponent. it was the most played type ever back then. so they create league of legends adding a twist. you were a hero fighting for domination. this led to the league you see today. we still see a lot of those TDs now on gaming, but none are as developped.

i will agree, though i hate LoL, its really well made.
