Shut up always talking about cassidy's no hit making ass.

Dude is broke as a joke (although he can flow).

Best Hip-hop album is a bit hard to decide of course (meaning you should give an option of 2 or more atleast)

With that said...

All Time:
Ready to Die - Biggie Smalls
Reasonable Doubt/ Black Album - Jay-Z
Mutha-Effin Illmatic - Nas
Food&Liquor - Lupe Fiasco

Recent (within the past 2 years):
Take Care - Drake
Watch the Throne - Jay-Z/Kanye West
Self Made. Vol I - MMG
God Forgives I Dont - Rick Ross

Then the best album of all time:

Carter 4 - Lil wayne
^Lol SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKE.

JUST MY OPINION! YES I PROBABLY MISSED A FEW LIKE TUPAC (BLAH,BLAH) - DONT GO KILLING ME

Cassidy goes hard when he freestyles, he's not as good when he actually makes songs lol.

I wouldn't know about the take care album, I personally can't stand drake.

One of the best albums in my opinion is Paid in Full

Default Re: Best hip hop album of all time?

Damn this is Hard

But ones that made the largest impacts and pretty much shaped the way the genre is shaped in each era of rap.

The Notorious B.I.G. - 1994- Ready to Die (This pretty much what brought the east coast back into full swing, and put Lyricism in Gangsta rap at full front. This album pretty much shaped the genre for the next 7-10 years on how people should rap. Its still even present today.) This album truly was one of the first times when a guy demonstrated a range of Rapping ability and was able to convert to a commercial level. Jay-Z, Nas, and 50 Cent have all gone that same route

Eminem - 2000 - The Marshal Mathers LP ( **** is dark.... Very very dark.... Its more dark than the Slim Shady LP. And this type of Music was the first to ever hit the mainstream so hard that people liked. Eminem is a very emotional and disgruntled person with a lot of issues. Showing his anger from front to end in a very poetic way (to say the least). This pretty much elevated Eminem to a Superstar, and it pretty much opened the door for other artist to come in and talk about their emotions. (Rather if its anger/happiness/sadness, you see it today in the artist.) Odd Future, Hopsin, Drake, Kid Cudi all express some type of emotion in their music.

Public Enemy - 1988 - It takes a Nation to Hold US Back ( The album showed people that Hip-Hop wasn't just about having a good time. But it could also send a message around the world about whats going on the streets.) Though there was the Message from Grand Master Flash and the furious five. These guys elevated this to a a new level in discussing the faults in the government and the wrongs, and how you can use your voice to speak against injustices in song. This music was the first in its kind and others have followed suite in this method of raping. 2Pac, Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, Talib Kweli were well known for this type of method of rapping.

Eric B. & Rakim - 1987 - Paid in Full (Rakim is the one who pretty started the word play and and braggadocios type of lyrics that we so here today). Rakim was simply ahead of his time, and pretty much brought on a style that has morphed hip-hop into what it is today. Lil Wayne, The Notorious B.I.G. and pretty much all main stream rappers are known for this art of rapping.

Outkast - 2004 - Speakerboxx/The Love Below (This brought the hybrid of of Rapping/Singing and outside/experimental elements into the hip-hop currently.) I would like to say Kanye West's 808's and Heartbreak was a very integral reason so why we have this soft/emotional mainstream Hip-hop that we have today. But you have to thank Andre 3000 and Big Boi for that. I can't really say Big Boi's portion was really the reason... But more of Andre 3000s part of the LP has made the game what it is today. Singing and Rapping on spacious instrumentals... he was the first rapper to ever do that on a mainstream level.... Guys like Drake and Kid Cudi demonstrate in today's music.

I'm going to say Diddo to Ashley, I think the Carter 3 would probably be the best.

He's made Classic/Great Albums... And I love Pac, but I've never seen him do game changing albums. They were just were great music. I think when you look at Pac, his image is the reason why he is so big. Not to degrade his music but its true....

Samething with Nas and Jay-Z I've always thought they were consistently great. But they're music was never game changing in my eyes.

What I'm talking about are guys like Drake/Eminem/Kanye West/The Notorious B.I.G./Outkast/N.W.A./Eric B. & Rakim/Public Enemy who've changed Hip-Hop for the mainstream made it what it was during its various periods.

Oh,ok. Now I get this topic

IMO

Kanye > The rest.

he continues to be innovative in both his lyrics (no so much now as the old kanyeezy)

&& His beats/producing skills (out of this world)

But I love Eminem for doing the "running (Dying to live- Tupac & biggie track)

Drake came a long way from degrassi lol

and continues to change style ( But now it seems like he's tryna fit it with the other rappers)

I think he should continue to be in his own lane instead of fighting in, all the gangsta talk he been spittin lately don't suit him.

IMO of course.

******edit*****

no one will be able to do what outkast did. 10000000%%%% original in everything they did. They are my favorite "group"
*goes to youtube start playing Ms.Jackson*
