Default account deletion option

i think most web accounts has it,

should we have one?
the ability of a user to terminate his user account? all the posts, info, created in the forum (or in the game) ?

this could be done both ways, but I think it would only matter in-game.

maybe if you send an e-mail or make a thread in contact a mod and provide the necessary information, can you delete an account from the servers of SFO.

that would be nice.

I don't really see a need for this really.

Like facebook, you can delete (a.k.a deactivate) but when you decide "No, I want it back" you can always log back in which would re-activate that account.

I think this isn't really a good option because if you delete the account then someone could recreate that account and act as if they are you.

exactly...we dont ever delete account in the game...last thing we need is ppl coming back as Zing79 or Quass or someone else from back in 2k1 that are no longer active

PS: regarding in-game, i think we have some sort of 'resetting,' wherein if youre not active for a month, youll lost your game ranking, but still youd be able to log in again

now, regarding in-forum, definitely a message will be prompted if you really want to deactivate your forum data and if someone is not really decided to terminate his account then why would he opt for it?

as for someone pretending to be you, using your username, i think sysops can view a person's IP address and email, two important factors to determine if someone is up to something

its not the admins/sysops deleting an account, but the users having the option to delete their own account at their own accord/discretion

and i dont see any usurpation problems, when an account is deleted, there should be a feature that that user account can no longer be used and if someone try to sneak in, admins/sysops (im sure) can track down their emails, IPs

I gotta question on this thread:
Q: What about certain in-game accounts that need password changes from tmyapp himself? If the person cannot access his/her account, cuz according to what titaniumfist says (not long ago before), "this is something that tmyapp has no time for, due to his heavy busy schedule". So ya.

Other Sys-Ops (Mainly TitaniumFist and Nferno), now have the ability to change your password if needed/necessary.

nobody seems to read TMyApp's post about the sysop remote box...

but yes password changes can be made now without TMyApp having to lift a finger. just make a request in the contact a staff section and provide us with the ign in question and why you need it change and provide us with anything we will be asking you after getting the request.

Account deletion not a good idea, but bringing [smackdown] back in servers would be very nice and reminiscent lol

Perhaps. I remember 5 years ago a group of people were successfully able to 'hack' the smackdown bot in a way that they became the bot itself. They were having fun kicking people out.
