[ The Forum Rules ]

Alright, the forum went down, and with it, all the old rules postings disappeared. *However, the old rules DO still apply.

1) RESPECT THE AUTHORITIES
SysOps, Admins, and Mods are all authorities trusted with enforcing these rules on the forum.
If you have a problem with a SysOp, Admin or Mod, or do NOT challenge them in the forum. *Instead, contact them via Instant messenger, PM, or email and discuss the issue.
If that does not help, you can try contacting another authority (preferably NOT TMyApp).

To reiterate, do NOT question us in an open thread. *Use a secret method of contacting us if you have concerns or complaints.

2) NO FLAMING
This means no insulting, provoking, attacking, etc.
This applies to EVERYONE--NO EXCEPTIONS. *Don't be surprised if we don't give warnings for this.

'Do not cause SFO Drama.' If you have personal issues with someone, settle it with that person.

2 a) 4/22/2012 – NO EXCEPTIONS EXPANSION

This rule applies to persons outside the community as well. Creating topics for the sole purpose of mocking, demeaning or flaming anyone on the basis of their behavior, appearance, race, gender, sexuality, religion, politics or any other unjustified basis will not be tolerated. Topics will be closed, posts edited or deleted, and if needed, accounts temporarily or permanently banned.
Just like the obscenity rules, it does not matter if you would do this elsewhere, we ask that you respect the rules and not do it here.

2 b) 4/22/2012 - EXCEPTION EXAMPLE

However, if the Lakers play absolutely fugly and this causes you great pain as a basketball fan, for example, feel free to create a topic to vent and ridicule them all. If the intent there is unclear, let me make it clearer: if you do create a topic to vent about someone outside the community, it had better be clearly justified. We are all human, we do know the difference between generally needing to vent about something and simply mocking.

2 c) TROLLING

Excessive trolling, mockery, and douchebaggery (why yes, I'm calling that a word) is a negative, not a positive.

It's come to our attention that members are have taken to:

-dragging private happenings (over instant messengers, Facebook, etc.in order to), onto the public forum for laughs (not everyone always finds said laughs funny)
-creating threads outside of R.I. for the sole purpose of trolling, e-beefing, and laughs (that not everyone finds funny)
-persistent trolling of other members of the forum

All of this may well be done for fun, and in good spirits and good humor, but often all it creates drama. Especially when it goes horribly wrong.

As of today, 9/15/2013, if we see you doing any of the above (and perhaps things not listed here but similar), we will act to stop that behavior. Those actions, as always, will include warnings, post editing or removal, topic locks, and when needed bans with or without warnings.

Learn to have a little fun without making fun of each other and constantly dogging each other. Some people are great at giving and taking these jokes. But there are always people who will be offended, rightly or wrongly. We aim to make this community safe and fun for everyone, and with that in mind, reserve the right to curtail all unreasonable levels of nonsense.

3) KEEP ALL POSTS (and signatures) CLEAN
This includes language, links, signatures, etc. *If in doubt, don't post it.
To clarify--no cursing, filter bypassing, use of offensive language, porn, links to porn, hentai, links to hentai, etc.

3 a) VIDEOS and PICTURES
Videos that contains too much violences (beaten to death or the likes), curses or bypasses the filtering of the forum will be removed on sight. faillure to apply this will result in a ban.

4) NO POSTING ANYTHING ILLEGAL
This includes roms, warez, cracks, no-cd patches, serial numbers, emulators and mugen. Please don't post your referral links to websites that links to free offers and free money sites. Some examples are: Free Xbox Live Codes, Free Paypal Cash for doing offers ,download free movies,watch free movies and TV shows, links to torrent sites.

5) NO SPAMMING
This includes double posting (use the edit button instead), posting the same or similar post in multiple sections, etc.
The same applies to Private Messages, and the Contact a Mod feature--do NOT abuse them.

This also applies to many smilies being used in your post especially if you make single lined posts.

6) NO EXCESSIVELY LONG POSTS
If it takes up more than one screen (on 800x600 resolution), then it had better be completely on topic, and a worthwhile contribution to the thread.

6a) NO EXCESSIVE QUOTING!
Do NOT quote a quote of a quote, this WILL get your post deleted, edited, shamed, etc.

7) NO BYPASSING THE FILTER
Bypassing it in the first place is difficult, but if you do somehow bypass it, there will be consequences

7a) 5/18/2012 NO BYPASSING THE FILTER via Images, Signatures or Videos
This includes adding a group of text from the forums profanity filter, to an image or personal signature. This also includes posting videos with excessive or extremely vulgar profanity. The right to ban without warning is reserved, this extended rule serves as the one and only warning.

8) DO NOT ASK TO BECOME OR HOW TO BECOME A STAFF MEMBER
This includes in form of a thread, post and/or Private Message (PM). Asking will ENSURE that you never become a staff member. Our only words of advice we will give is that the rank is not a standard title, but a managing role/job.

8a) DO NOT ASK TO BECOME A VIP OR ELITE VIP
Don't ask to be sponsored to be a VIP. *If you want to be a VIP, either A) donate for yourself, or B) Be a model forum member, and maybe someone will sponsor you.

Don't ask to become an Elite VIP because you donated (on your behalf) to help the game. Please note there's no set minimum into becoming an Elite VIP and it varies from member depending on TMyApp's decision to promoting a member to Elite VIP.

9) SIGNATURE DIMENSIONS and/or IMAGES
Signatures are not to exceed 600 pixels in width, and be no more than 150 pixels in height.

also as of August 16th, ANY signatures that are "ads" mainly money ads, will be asked to be removed. If you don't want to put it down, we'll do it for you and give you a nice vacation. We're not joking, we do NOT want to see them.

-- 10/4/2007 -- If you are unsure of your signature dimensions after having uploaded a banner, only check the dimensions with this method: Right click on the image > Scroll down to Properties > Click Properties > A window will pop up and show you the exact dimensions in pixels.

-- 5/31/2008 -- Do not use TMyApp's avatar or any altered/modified version of it.


10) DO NOT BUG TMYAPP
He is a busy guy ... much too busy to be "bugged"

11) REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE A GUEST
Every ability that you may enjoy in the SFO community (such as the chat servers, the forum, or the website itself) are hosted and maintained by the SFO staff in their own free time, and out of their own (mostly empty) pockets. As a result, please remember that no one is obligated to provide you with any type of access to the private SFO servers, instead, you are invited here as a "guest" (and thus, you should behave as such). Think of being here as "being invited to someone's house". If you break the rules, or make disrespectful comments about SFO or it's community, you will be asked and/or forced to leave.

12) DO NOT ASK QUESTIONS WHICH HAVE ALREADY BEEN ANSWERED
This specifically applies to questions or issues which have been addressed in the same thread. If a reply has been given by a Sysop/Admin/Mod/Ambassadors respect their comments, and do not continue to ask the same questions over and over again, and/or imply that the answer given to you was "not good enough". (in SFO, the words of a Sysop/Admin/Mod/Ambassador are "the law". Period.) Also note that this rule may apply to questions/issues which have been already addressed in other threads and/or clearly visible/pinned topics (ie: if you do not take 2 minutes to read a pinned topic which deals with your question, then don't be surprised if your lack of respect grants you a ban).

13) DO NOT PASS YOUR OPINIONS OR FALSE FACTS AS "THE TRUTH"
This also applies to intentional antagonizing of the SFO staff members. (we are not dumb. If you make comments aimed to "piss us off," then your "guest privileges" (see above) in the world of SFO will be promptly removed.)

14) IF ALL FAILS, YOU ARE WELCOME TO LEAVE
No one is forcing you to be here. (as mentioned above, you are a "guest" here, and thus, should behave accordingly). If you have a problem with SFO's rules, staff, or the general manner in which we operate, then you are welcome to leave. If on the other hand you continue to cause a disruption (intentional or not) you will be asked and/or forced to leave.

15) NO MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS
As of Saturday, August 22, 2009, registering and using multiple accounts simultaneously (at the same time) is prohibited. Members with multiple, active accounts will have their extra accounts banned. This may be used retroactively (in other words, for accounts created prior to this rule's creation). The forum is not like the game. Ingame, members can make as many accounts as they like. Not here. On the forum, members only need one account.

Exceptions to this rule:

A) Two distinct individuals having the same IP address (Example: two or more persons living in the same house as siblings etc.) who use two separate accounts on PX. If you fall into this exception, notify staff members.

B) The creation of event-specific accounts/personalities, as began with C_wing's ROT-13 event. Member-based developments that require new accounts need to be cleared with staff members ahead of time.

C) Your account was neither placed on probation/banned/ nor awaiting authorization status, and does not work. If you're unable to post for that reason (and, again, were never reprimanded for breaking a rule) - creating a new account will most likely be your only option.

Creating a new account because you were placed on probation or banned, does not count as an exception. Depending on why you were reprimanded, a creation of a new account before your probation/ban is lifted will most likely get the new account banned.

16) DO NOT SPAM STAFF VISITOR BOXES
With the inception of the new visitor boxes, users now have the ability to post messages on staff members' profile pages. However, these boxes are not ideal for posting personal issues (e.g. in-game colors, forum/in-game account issues). These issues should be brought to the staff's attention via the Contact a Mod option, the Shoutbox (when a staff member is available), or by PM when necessary.

17) DO NOT SUPPORT (OR START) ANTI-SFO DISCUSSIONS OR MEMBERS WHO SUPPORT ANTI-SFO
This is really common sense. If a member or group of members have designated themselves as enemies of SFO, then that is exactly how we will treat them. If members choose to support those members/start discussions based on their Anti-SFO material (websites, videos, etc.) and still attempt to keep their place in this community, those members and discussions will be removed from this community.

Depending on the situation, a warning may or may not be issued before such actions are taken against such members or discussions such members chose to start. (Please read rules 11 - 14 again in full)

18) "FREE SPONSORSHIP" THREADS ON PX

After discussing the way in which VIP members sponsor non-VIP members, the following rule and suggestions, are now in effect as of Wednesday, October 6, 2010:

18 a) RULE: Any threads publically created for the purpose of asking members for their IGN, and sponsoring it must contain a link to the Top Scores Search Page. Members who wish to be sponsored are to search their name, and post a screenshot of the search result (the IGN they want to be sponsored). This will give any VIP member sponsoring non-VIPs more information about the non-VIP member accounts along with any other information/reasons/essays the VIPs wish to ask for. Information such as; the date the account was created, win/loss ratio (which will help determine the members activity), and last log in (again, activity).

Each VIP member is then left to determine whether the member is worthy of a sponsorship based on their account information.

18 b)SUGGESTIONS FOR SPONSORSHIP THREAD FORMATS: While no one will be forced to sponsor members a specific way, the following are suggestions for ways to use sponsorship as a prize, or in some other creative fashion:

-Contest/Event must show creativity and planning on the host's part. Number of entrants are only limited by the end registration date and/or the cap set by the host. Entrants must have a minimum set by the event host if they so choose.

-Tournament must show planning and organization on the host's part. The number of entrants is only limited by the end registration date and the cap set by the host. Standard tournament rules apply.

-Lotteries and drawings must be fair, and the winners are chosen at random. Must have a limited number of entrants (no higher than 10-15), and a small number of winners (no more than 1-5). Participants must pass a minimum requirement set by the lottery/drawing host if they so choose.

Members who would like to offer sponsorship as a prize but do not have the means to do so on their own may use the Contact A Moderator forum to request it as a prize.

19) DO NOT CREATE RELIGIOUS TOPICS: April 9, 2012 - In previous years, this was always understood as an unwritten rule. We decided to put it in writing for all members, new and old. The SFO community comes from a diverse background and belief system. Topics created to discuss religion or God (no matter the individual’s religion), instead of being intelligent debates, have often been the source of flame wars and offended members.

Creating a topic to mark a religious holiday, and give general greetings and well wishes do not count as creating a sacred text, as such a topic does not invite a debate or a flame war.

Feel free to discuss any and all religion, or your view of God on another forum, or in any means of private communication.




If you break the rules, there will be consequences based on the severity of the infraction. *
Results may include anything from a simple warning or post edit to a temporary or even permanent ban.

Follow the rules, and there will be no issues.

It is irrelevant how you speak to people in other forms of online communication or real life.

On this forum, certain words are not allowed, period.
